VoteVets.org: Jeff Flake's tweet is meaningless without action

VoteVets

Shortly after FBI Director James Comey was fired, there were no shortage of Republicans voicing their concern about the development in press releases and on social media.

Republican Senator Burr said he was "troubled by the timing and reasoning of Director Comey's termination." Arizona Republican Senator Jeff Flake tweeted, "trying to find an acceptable rationale for the timing of Comey's firing. I just can't do it." John McCain added that he was "disappointed."

But when it comes down to it, there's still not one Senate Republican who has come out in favor of an independent investigation into Comey's firing and Donald Trump's relationship with Russia. Not one. Until that happens, all of the public pronouncements of concern mean nothing, and they should get no credit for the grandstanding.

It's up to us to hold their feet to the fire. So we want to ask you to join us:

Sign VoteVets petition calling on Senate Republicans to put country before politics and call for an independent investigation into the president's relationship with Russia.

Here's the truth of the matter: Republicans are afraid that an investigation would stall their efforts to repeal Obamacare, privatize the VA, and get a MASSIVE tax cut for the richest Americans out there.

Well, it's time for them to put their country ahead of the financial interests of the billionaire class. Until they do, it's up to us to hold them accountable.

All our best,
- The team at VoteVets
