Republican Senator Josh Hawley (MO) responded to the House Judiciary Committee’s plan to hear a testimony from a Watergate-era figure on presidential obstruction with frustration, ThinkProgress reported.
Former White House counsel for President Richard Nixon, John Dean, will testify on special counsel Robert Mueller’s report. Mueller “documented at least 10 instances involving President Donald Trump which may have constituted obstruction.”
“The Democrats want to talk about Watergate,” Sen. Hawley told Fox News, “I mean this happened before I was born! This is a total waste of time.”
However, Hawley has not always objected to learning from history. He visited Normandy, France just last week to honor the 75th Anniversary of the D-Day invasion.
“What are we going to do in our day and in our time to carry forward their legacy to protect freedom in our country and around the world?” he later reflected.
