Green Buildings Open House October 13
Learn about green energy projects here on Cape

The annual Green Buildings Open House tour is Saturday, October 13. The green tour is organized by the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association (NESEA) and locally by Cape & Islands Self-Reliance. The annual self-guided event allows people to tour local clean energy projects and green buildings.

Speak with homeowners, architects and installers at each site and learn about green materials and new technologies. The open house is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with some sites only open for a few hours.

Search all open sites on the NESEA site here. Sign up to visit a site online and the address and additional information will be emailed to you.

Sites include commercial buildings and residential homes.

  1. The new environmental book, Green Illusions, shows the importance of green buildings as a first step in combating our broader energy challenges. The author argues that green buildings is a better project to pursue than new energy technologies, which have many negative side effects and limitations. Buildings and community: See why future environmentalists will reject LEED buildings (p. 309) and straw-bale homes in favor of more durable options (Chapter 12).
