Hertz, Raynham, MA

The following was posted on Angie's List:

Hertz
325 ROUTE 44
Raynham MA 02767

Arrangements were made by Route 44 Toyota for a rental from Hertz, Raynham, MA. and I was under the impression that the rental was to be paid by Route 44 Toyota.

I signed 2 pieces of paper for the rental agreement and never received a copy of either.
On the day I rented the vehicle, there was a gentleman in the office with his elderly father arguing about additional charges on the bill.
Another person was arguing on the phone with another customer about additional charges.
The day Route 44 Toyota was served with notice of the lawsuit, Hertz began putting a daily hold on my credit card, without notifying me.

A week later, a threatening message was left on my answering machine threatening to call the police and report the vehicle stolen if not returned that day.
When I attempted to call and resolve the matter with the office manager, I was told he was out of the office although he was there yelling at me when I returned the vehicle.

Hertz has been included in the lawsuit filed and the 'document' presented by Hertz to the court has FORGED my signature.

The first attorney representing Hertz was not admitted to the Massachusetts Bar.
The next attorney was newly admitted to the Bar [~ 6 months earlier] and unfamiliar with court procedures.

Very embarrassing!

FOOTNOTE: Hertz has retained Morrison & Mahoney, the law firm for whom the label "DILLY, DALLY, DELAY & STALL" was invented.

The original charge being challenged was ~$1,400.

The inexperienced rookies involved in this matter have filed documents, motions for dismissals and killed more trees than imaginable, frequently with the wrong court, using the wrong proceedures.

And have surely run up one heck of a legal bill!

Common sense no longer prevails!

[In the past, we have only rented from Enterprise. They are professional, pleasant and straightforward. You sign the paper agreement, walk around the car, note any damage and you're on your way.]
