ATTENTION Schuylkill county PA and beyond! Hillside no kill shelter needs adoptions and ASAP!
We need the rate of adoptions to increase immediately in order to keep up with the needs of incoming animals. The Hillside is the only shelter in our county of 780+ square miles that is taking in dogs of all shapes, sizes, ages...others are only selectively accepting intakes, if accepting intakes at all, and the Hillside is left trying to meet the burden that the situation has put on our shoulders. Summer, on its own, is a notoriously bad time for animals being "dumped" by owners going on vacations and giving up their dogs, kids going back to...or away to... school and parents not willing to care for the pets... so many reasons...and so many unwanted pets. Add to that economic pressures, and just the "throw-away" attitude some take with their pets and it becomes overwhelming. If you have been considering adopting, these sweet creatures need you NOW!! You can also get a head start on the adoption inquiry process by going to www.hillsidespca.com/prescreenform.htm and completing and submitting an application. We do out of area adoptions, too, and a pre-screen form is a mandatory first step for those.
