Salt caverns for storage? Yes. Just like the one in Louisiana which holds butane, and which is collapsing, causing a sink hole, and has caused a whole community to be evacuated. This time, Inergy, the largest natural gas storage and transportation company in the US, wants to locate a salt cavern storage facility on the banks of one of the most pristine lakes in New York, Lake Seneca.
