PCN: Who or What is the “American Federation for Children”? et al

"There is a zero percent chance that we will ever reach a 100 percent target," said Robert L. Linn, co-director of the National Center for Research on Evaluation, Standards and Student Testing at UCLA. "But because the title of the law is so rhetorically brilliant, politicians are afraid to change this completely unrealistic standard. They don't want to be accused of leaving some children behind."
What constitutes bad teaching? A teacher bright and safe enough to resist the newest of new education reforms? A teacher whose students get low scores? A teacher-parent? A teacher who is ill? The Education Reform bad teacher — Principals sometimes desire the ability to get rid of bad teachers. But too often principals are merely foot soldiers for the latest education fad. Before NCLB superintendents, district offices and principals were perceived as support systems. Now they are functionaries of compliance.
The American Federation of Children is a rightwing organization that spends heavily to promote vouchers and to support candidates in state and local races who support vouchers. When Governor Scott Walker of Wisconsin was under siege for attacking public sector workers, he was honored (along with Michelle Rhee) by the AFS. The AFS is funded by the DeVos family, whose fortune comes from its ownership of Amway.
