OUR DECISION TO REJECT CORPORATE AD REVENUE: When we say, "we are 100% reader supported" that's the tip - not the iceberg. For an American news agency rejecting corporate advertising is tantamount to heresy. What it means is that we are tampering with the code by which information is disseminated. We are reversing the polarization. That's not only unsettling for the corporate powers-that-be but it can be for the public as well. The truth is that we have all become trained to expect our information digest to be delivered to us in a convenient way, like a vast Vegas buffet. As long as we don't have to pay for it ... chow down. What we are saying is not only that you should contribute to Reader Supported News, but that if you do you will be contributing to a process that will undermine the very origin of information. However much fear that may strike in the hearts of corporate citizens or flesh and blood citizens. Take the time to contribute, it's a small price to pay. In solidarity. / Marc Ash, Founder Reader Supported News
