Academics Who Criticize War on Terror Are 'Lawful Targets,' West Point Professor Says | 31 Aug 2015 | Legal scholars who criticize U.S. tactics against terrorists are committing treasonous acts in support of an enemy, and they and the law schools that employ them should be regarded as "lawful targets" for military attacks, a law professor at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point argued in an article published recently by a student-edited law journal. The article, "Trahison des Professeurs: The Critical Law of Armed Conflict / Academy as an Islamist Fifth Column," appeared in the Spring/Summer 2015 issue of the National Security Law Journal, based at George Mason University, in Virginia. The article's author, William C. Bradford, has been an assistant professor of law at West Point for about a month, the British newspaper The Guardian reported on Saturday.

Civilian deaths claimed in 71 US-led airstrikes in Syria and Iraq | 03 Sept 2015 | The US-led coalition's bombing of Islamic State [I-CIA-SIS] in Iraq and Syria, which has been described as the "most precise ever", faces allegations that civilians have been killed in 71 separate air raids. A spokesman for US central command (Centcom) disclosed the claims to the Guardian. Many of the claims have been dismissed, but he said 10 incidents were the subject of fuller, formal investigations. Five investigations have been concluded, although only one has been published. To date, the coalition acknowledges civilian deaths in a single strike: in November 2014 a US strike on Syria killed two children, a Centcom investigation published in May found. Centcom said it will only publish investigations where a "preponderance of evidence" suggests civilians have died.

I call upon you to urgently discuss this problem, to develop a unified position and to save the lives of thousands of people," Ramzan Kadyrov wrote on his Instagram account.
