Petition: Don't let the Highway Trust Fund expire

Republicans continue to prove their inability to govern with their temper tantrums over inflammatory issues, ignoring Americans.

Please add your name.

Across Wisconsin and the nation our roads, bridges, and railways are in serious need of repair and maintenance. Nearly 22% of Wisconsin’s major roads are in poor condition and over 1,200 bridges are structurally compromised.

But while the need for investment in roads, bridges, railways and mass transit is clear, extreme Republicans in the House continue to block passage of the bipartisan DRIVE Act which would authorize and fund transportation programs for the next six years. Without reauthorization, funding will run out on October 29th.

Wisconsin businesses rely on our nation’s roads, railways and bridges to get their goods to market reliably and on time. And investing in infrastructure projects creates good jobs that can’t be outsourced, boosting our economy.

We cannot allow extremists in Congress to create another crisis by blocking federal funding for transportation. Sign on today and tell Congress not to let transportation funding expire.

Crumbling roads cost Wisconsin motorists $2.1 billion each year. Refusing to reauthorize transportation funding isn’t just bad for the economy. It’s also dangerous. Poor roads and failing bridges put the lives of travelers at risk every day.

In the Senate we’ve put together a comprehensive long-term plan for transportation projects and funding. We understand that if our economy is going to keep moving forward, investing in infrastructure must be a top priority. We’re fighting to do just that, and we could use your support.

Sign my petition today and demand that House Republicans quit stalling and pass long term legislation to authorize and fund vital transportation projects.
Thank you.
