NYC KILL SHELTERS .....You made a commitment...you walked away?

****DECLAWED  & NEUTERED CAT!
HE BELONGS TO SOMEONE!

CYGNUS - A1055732 - Manhattan - Publicly Adoptable
***TO BE DESTROYED 11/8/2015*** CYGNUS IS PLEADING WITH YOU TO SAVE HIM! DECLAWED 5 YEAR OLD!!! SWEET AND GENTLE NEEDS YOU TONIGHT! Sweet CYGNUS was found as a ‘stray’ in the Bronx. He’s Declawed and it’s very odd that this gentle and neutered guy was found outside at all. But found outside in the Bronx indeed he was and whether he was left behind after a move or simply lost is a good guess but no one has been looking for him…and tonight if no one does he will lose his life tomorrow. CYGNUS is a really nice cat who happens to have a little hair loss that might indicate ringworm or flea allergies even…but it’s so slight and could well be from being outside. It’s been addressed and this boy caught the shelter cold and is being treated for it….but ACC won’t bother to do much more and is planning on ending his life tomorrow…unless you step up and say ‘yes, I will help!’ Will you be the hero that looks at that pleading face and says ‘I will save you-don’t you worry?’ Please save this sweet guy!

MORGAN - A1056639 - Manhattan - Publicly Adoptable
***TO BE DESTROYED 11/08/15***SECOND CHANCE FOR MARVELOUS MORGAN–BEGINNER–MAKE IT COUNT!!! OUTRAGEOUS! BEGINNER-rated MORGAN was brought to the ACC by a zealous cat hater who has been described by the ACC as “a regular who brings in the cats they trap and or find.” The ACC comes off as sounding honored to know a person who is singlehandedly doing as much as they can to get cats killed, cats who—like MORGAN—are almost certainly FAMILY PETS! How this “shelter” system has the chutzpah to market itself as a friendly, animal-loving resource for NYC is beyond imagining, and how anyone can believe that crap leaves a person speechless. The strongest step AGAINST that ridiculous cat-trapping vigilante is to make sure that MORGAN is saved by a foster/adopter, tonight!

TADITA - A1057040 - Manhattan - Publicly Adoptable
*** TO BE DESTROYED 11/08/15*** BLIND Baby TADITA has a big problem for such a little girl…she’s stuck at the ACC along with litter mates, because their owner is hospitalized. Now the 6 month old is in the fight of her life! She has a balance problem, likely neurological, but not confirmed. If that’s not sad enough, this lovely little girl is also blind. That hasn’t stopped her from being such an affectionate little angel. She earned a beginner behavior rating but is rated “experienced” due to her medical conditions. Prognosis is great as long as she lives long enough after tonight’s listing! Please, offer to FOSTER or ADOPT this sweet girl. Tadita wants to live and deserves a chance for a happy new life. She may not be able to walk to well or see, but one thing’s for sure…this angel sure can fly!

HUGGIE - A1056568 - Manhattan - Publicly Adoptable
TO BE DESTROYED 11/08/15 **AMAZING AVERAGE RATING** A volunteer writes: Is he named Huggie because he gives the best hugs? You’re going to have to come meet him to find out!! So anxious to come out for a walk he goes potty as soon as we’re out the door. Anxiety resolved! Although he’s a bit too thin in my opinion, his caramel color coat is gorgeous, his amber eyes the perfect complement to his coat. His leash manners are lovely, and after our pleasant walk to the park we head to the yard. Huggie seems to love small dogs, play bowing to a ‘little’ through the gate, and happily wagging his tail in greeting to three ‘littles’ awaiting transport. Offered a treat, he takes it gently, making a cute noise as he eats it — like a little kid enjoying a snack. Quietly exploring our pen, sniffing the good smells, and chasing after a ball (no retrieve), Huggie is hoping to share his life, and some hugs, with you.

BRILL - A1055579 - Brooklyn - Rescue Only
TO BE DESTROYED 11/08/15 Brill has certainly been on good behavior mode while incarcerated in the Brooklyn ACC. He’s a 2-year old pit bull mix who is accused of biting a poodle. We weren’t there and cannot validate what happened, but we can verify that Brill showed all good manners even toward other dogs while at the shelter. Of course when dogs relax on their own home turf, they go through phases of adjustment to each other. We all know that dogs need to be monitored. Anyway Brill is NOT getting the benefit of the doubt tonight as that little scuffle with the poodle has landed him on the list of dogs to be killed tomorrow. Think back to your own dogs throughout your lifetime…Were they all perfectly well behaved at all times? If you think that Brill deserves a break, please help find a new home for him right away. Brill is a New Hope Only adoption.

CHUCKIE - A1056867 - Manhattan - Publicly Adoptable
TO BE DESTROYED 11/08/15 **ON PUBLIC LIST** A volunteer writes: Little Chuckie I call Angie has been eying me for a few days, now…He is a tiny thing sitting right behind his door and hoping to slide into into a caretaker’s arms, be in company and go for a walk. Somehow, I never had time for him, taking big dogs out as they seemed so much more in need. I thought to myself, who would not want such a cute Chihuahua, so sweet looking and engaging… Of course, he is old and with a wee heart murmur….but I bet that he still has a few more years of love to give to a worthy new master…. So, today, I met Chuckie on a walk with another volunteer. He was coming back from the park and had been en exemplary pooch, polite with other dogs, not chasing squirrels and birds, doing his business and energetic enough to go for such a long stroll. He is a little timid but warms up so quickly in the arms. He loves kisses and caresses. I know he will make a very loyal companion and friend. Tiny Chuckie needs your help tonight. Do ask for him, give him a chance. I know you will not regret it..Chuckie is at the Manhattan Care Center.

SAM - A1056264 - Manhattan - Publicly Adoptable
TO BE DESTROYED 11/08/15
A volunteer writes: In his gorgeous Cognac colored coat, his white socks providing the perfect accent, Sam is one handsome boy. We have the alliteration down to perfection: Sam is sleek, sexy and sweet! Throw in elegant and friendly and we have the perfect description. Showing off his lovely leash manners and his housetraining skills (he ‘went’ as soon as we were out the door), we had a lovely walk to the park. Stopping to take some pictures, Sam didn’t mind being tethered, made soft eye contact for photos and was easy peasy to work with. Back in the yard he explores our pen, joins me on the bench for snuggles, poses for more photos and greets some dogs in the adjoining pen. In group he greets others politely and solicits play. Sam shows off his ‘sit’ in exchange for a treat which he takes softly, plays with a ball briefly but is more interested in rolling in for some cuddling. His quiet soft energy is delightful, his snuggles are perfection and he’s looking for his lifetime snuggle partner. Meet Mr. Sam today.

MOET - A1056648 - Manhattan - Publicly Adoptable
TO BE DESTROYED 11/08/15 **ON PUBLIC LIST** A volunteer writes: Where was she when the Mets lost the World Series? They could have used her, as she’s an awesome fielder! Keeping her eye on the ball, running quickly after it, she brings it back and drops it at my feet for another throw. If I didn’t pick it up right away she would move it a bit as if to remind me it’s there for me to throw. What a fun and smart girl she is! Surrendered by the only family she’s ever known as they are moving where she isn’t welcome, we’re told she’s friendly and outgoing to strangers, lived and played gently with a 1, 4, and 10 year-old (although sometimes due to her size will knock them down), barks at dogs on the street wanting to play, is scared of baths, enjoys balls and rope toys, loves to play, and likes bacon treats, and is housetrained when walked 2 times a day. Indeed, Moet showed off her housetraining skills, and could benefit from some leash training as she pulls hard on leash. Her wagging tail, sparkling doe-like eyes and friendly demeanor won my heart. Moet has a gorgeous soft coat, is the perfect weight for her size, and is a fun-loving playful girl. A proven family dog (and outfielder!) she’s hoping to find a new active and fun family to love. If you’re looking for a player for your home team, look no further — you’ve found her!

TOM - A1056379 - Manhattan - Publicly Adoptable
TO BE DESTROYED 11/08/15
A volunteer writes: That smile…those ears…the picture perfect markings…is Tom a dog or a cartoon character come to life?!! Whether he’s putting on his best pleading puppy face or breaking into an ear-to-ear grin, this petite boy is always Adorable with a capital A and he has all the playful, friendly energy of a puppy. Luckily for this tired volunteer he’s more than happy to expend it chasing, retrieving and demolishing a tennis ball and though he prefers to keep it to himself, Tom is cool with being petted as he goes about his ball-chewing business. For a little guy he’s got a big personality and will let me know loud and clear just what he thinks of my stalling-for-photos technique, after all he can see that ball in my hand…and just out of his reach! He mouths treats gently and walks quite well on leash, taking care of business as he goes and responding easily to my voice. No one’s happier than Tom when four-legged friends pass by and the whole world is his playground so naturally inside his kennel is the last place he wants to be and he’s too excited for his next play date to stay still for long. If you like your freedom as much as Tom does and you’re looking for a sporty, funny, friendly sidekick to share it with then look no further–this cartoon cutie is ready and waiting to head home with you today! A Volunteer Wrote: When I first met Tom, all his paws were crossed, so patiently does this apparently house trained boy wait for a walk, but nothing stops his tail from wagging like crazy! Tom is the dog children dream of when they wish their stuffed animals would come to life–soft, snuggly, and dearly affectionate with his walkers. He has a wonderful temperament and seems to have come from a loving home judging from his incredibly friendly nature and gorgeous manners. Please, won’t you open the door to your loving home, so Tom’s tail may wag forever?

YOSHI - A1056107 - Manhattan - Publicly Adoptable
TO BE DESTROYED 11/8/15
A volunteer writes: I always wonder what makes a dog keep one ear up at all times, standing like a sentinelle and calling sometimes the other ear to the rescue. Yoshi is part of that rare crowd, a real cute young guy dressed in a becoming oreo coat. Yoshi is a very friendly character, wagging his tail non stop and sitting obediently on command, for treats or not. He is a very hungry caterpillar. Food might have been very scarce wherever he came from. He will jump for it, stands on his hinds, begging for more and even search my bag. A little scolding and an order to settle bring him back to a sitting position, one paw up for forgiveness… or more treats. Yoshi is really adorable. He likes to be caressed, comes on my lap, sniffs my face and then licks me. He pulls a little on the leash, does his business without marking, does not go after the birds or the squirrels and is cool with other dogs met, even the little ones. Yoshi is a very likeable boy located at the Manhattan Care Center. Are his dreams to become a beloved pet unrealistic? It all depends on you and him meeting each other, falling in love and making plans for a wonderful future together..

ZENA - A1056857 - Manhattan - Rescue Only
TO BE DESTROYED 11/08/15 **NEEDS A NEW HOPE RESCUE TO PULL** Alrighty then, young Zena is sick and she feels like the pits. This 1-year old was found as a stray and stuffed into a carrier for transport to the shelter. The truck ride made Zena feel all the sicker and she experienced explosive diarrhea along with vomiting – the girl was really sick. Now, if you were in Zena’s situation, would you feel like being temperament tested shortly after your arrival? So Zena let her displeasure be known through growling and she became a New Hope Only adoption. Zena is well under 50-pounds which is small for a pit bull mix. The truth is that we know very little about her real disposition. We can say that Zena was perfectly cordial to the strange dog she met through the gate and she continued to be polite when the dogs were in the play yard together. So it’s up to us New Yorkers. What’s it gonna be for Zena? Is there someone who’s willing to take a chance on Zena’s life and love?

OMANI - A1056416 - Brooklyn - Publicly Adoptable
TO BE DESTROYED 11/08/15
Omani and his pal Odom arrived together as strays, in rough shape and very badly neglected. Poor Omani’s fur was so matted that his little ears could not even be found. He was also severely underweight upon arrival – emaciated. This poor little guy has seen the worst yet he is willing to forgive and give US a second chance. Now it is up to us to make sure HE gets a second chance and this time with someone who will take proper care of him and treat him like the little treasure he is. The shelter has placed him on tomorrows euth list. We must help him find a home before noon tomorrow. Omani deserves to feel love for the first time in his life. We must not let him down.

ROCKS - A1056040 - Manhattan - Rescue Only
TO BE DESTROYED 11/08/15
Young Rocks, barely out of babyhood, is in the fight for his life tonight! Tonight, Rocks is looking for that very dog savvy person who understands that he’s totally lost and confused and so looking for that human to tell him what he should do. He’s been sitting in a cage at Manhattan ACC for many days now as he reportedly bit someone or some animal—its never explained. But at the shelter, this boy, found as a stray, has been acting like the very young pup he is—frisky, active, begging for someone to show him how he’s supposed to behave, begging for somebody to show him he really does have a human who cares about him. But ACC has put him on tomorrow’s euthanasia list and made him New Hope Only. So unless someone works with a rescue to foster or adopt Rocks by noon tomorrow, he will die without ever having had the kind of life he should have had all along.
