UKULELE - A1056344 - Manhattan - Publicly Adoptable
TO BE DESTROYED 11/07/15 A volunteer writes: Break out your sunglasses as you’ll need them when you meet Ukulele! Her rich chocolate brown coat positively glows with good care! Her petite figure, big rabbit ears and wagging tail encase a sweet friendly personality ready to make a new friend. Out we go where she uses the “facilities” promptly and then looks up at me for approval, tail wagging. So cute! Since Ukulele is allabout making friends, she couldn’t figure out why all the squirrels scurrying about in the park didn’t want to play. She tried but they simply weren’t interested. Ukulele pulls on her leash and pulls harder in her attempt to make squirrel friends. Off leash in the backyard we snuggle on the bench, Ukulele poses perfectly for some pictures, she sits (with some prompting) for treats which she takes gently. Her tail never stops wagging, and her sweet, affectionate, playful energy is completely engaging. She’s ready to make you her new BFF, meet her today and give her that chance.

HOVA - A1055530 - Manhattan - Publicly Adoptable
TO BE DESTROYED 11/07/15
A volunteer writes (as told by Hova): Hi puppy lovers out there!! I’m a fun loving, playful, active, very handsome (if I do say so myself), young pup who needs a new home. I’m well on my way to being housetrained if walked enough, I pull on the leash so could use a harness and some leash training, and I can be a bit jumpy when I play because I was never taught not to be. I’m all about love and fun, but I listen very well, especially when there’s a treat involved! I love treats (who doesn’t?), so I’ll be easy to train with positive treat reinforcement and I look forward to it. I love to learn new things, and I already know how to sit. My new friend, Volunteer, calls me a good boy when I listen and I like that. Volunteer gave me a plush toy to play with and I loved tossing it around, what fun! My coat is shiny, my weight is good, I love to play and snuggle, and I’ll share my toy with you. The nice people here took me into pen with another dog to play and I did pretty well; I was “social”, “a bit playful”, and “gentle and dainty”. I’m here because I didn’t get along with the male dog where I lived before, but with proper structure and training I’m going to be a rockstar with my new family. I know that not everyone wants to deal with a puppy, so only come meet me if you’re ready to provide me with the structure, training and love that I need. I’ll be your forever best friend…….pinky swear! That’s Hova – don’t forget!

SAM - A1056264 - Manhattan - Publicly Adoptable
TO BE DESTROYED 11/07/15 A volunteer writes: In his gorgeous Cognac colored coat, his white socks providing the perfect accent, Sam is one handsome boy. We have the alliteration down to perfection: Sam is sleek, sexy and sweet! Throw in elegant and friendly and we have the perfect description. Showing off his lovely leash manners and his housetraining skills (he ‘went’ as soon as we were out the door), we had a lovely walk tothe park. Stopping to take some pictures, Sam didn’t mind being tethered, made soft eye contact for photos and was easy peasy to work with. Back in the yard he explores our pen, joins me on the bench for snuggles, poses for more photos and greets some dogs in the adjoining pen. In group he greets others politely and solicits play. Sam shows off his ‘sit’ in exchange for a treat which he takes softly, plays with a ball briefly but is more interested in rolling in for some cuddling. His quiet soft energy is delightful, his snuggles are perfection and he’s looking for his lifetime snuggle partner. Meet Mr. Sam today.

Urgent Part 2 - Urgent Death Row Dogs with Suzanne Balson
MARCUS - A1056007 - Manhattan - Publicly Adoptable
TO BE DESTROYED 11/07/15 A volunteer writes: Friendly, bouncy, playful, affectionate all describe our boy Marcus. So handsome in his brindle coat with white socks, his eyes meet mine and a friendship was born. Easy to leash and happy to get outside to go potty, we head to the park, Marcus leading the way as he pulls on the leash. He may do better in a harness and/or use some leash training to make it a more enjoyablewalk for both ends of the leash. In the park the squirrels are scurrying around getting ready for winter and Marcus would love to join them in some play. Sorry Marcus, no squirrels! Off leash in the yard he busily explores our pen, leaving no scent unsniffed, shows off his ‘sit’ and takes treats enthusiastically. In group play he’s social, playful and engages in running play with both males and females. After a good game of fetch, Marcus poses for some pictures and gives me some snuggles. Active, energetic and with a tail that never stops wagging, Marcus is looking for a fun, active family where long walks, playtime, and a good game of fetch are all on the daily ‘to do’ list. He’s a gorgeous boy ready to join in his new person’s activities and hopes that it all starts today.

Urgent Part 2 - Urgent Death Row Dogs with Suzanne Balson
FELIX - A1056003 - Manhattan - Urgent
TO BE DESTROYED 11/07/15 Well this is unusual – the ACC is giving Felix a sort of backhanded compliment by suggesting that he would be an appropriate adoption for a family with average dog experience. The clinch is that Felix is said to have bitten another dog, but the shelter did a thorough temperament test and did not deem Felix a danger. Of course Felix is on tomorrow’s Destroy List, so that’s not such a glowing vote of confidence. Felix’ problem is that he’s caught a bad cold at the shelter and anyone who’s ever suffered from the flu knows how glazed that can make you. Such a whirlwind of activity about Felix who is a calm and relaxed dog, even around other strange dogs. Felix appears to be a delightful dog although the shelter hastens to recommend that he be monitored around any other family pets due to his history of having bitten another dog. It sounds like the vote is unanimous to give Felix a second chance if only we could find a willing taker. Felix will die tomorrow if no one selects him to be their very own boy.

ROCKY - A1056435 - Brooklyn - Publicly Adoptable
TO BE DESTROYED 11/07/15 Young Rocky doesn’t understand why his people left him to sit in a cage at Brooklyn ACC. He doesn’t think he did anything wrong and sitting in a cage 24 x 7 is sheer torture for a big, strong boy like Rocky. Healthy when he got there, he was even already neutered. Full of life, he’s ready to run and play and just be the fun boy he’s used to being. But ACC has decided Rocky’s had enough time to find himself a new home and they’ve put him on tomorrow’s euthanasia list. So tonight, Rocky is hoping against hope that one person out there is ready for a new bff to be at their side, through thick and thin, for many years to come. But unless someone steps up to foster or adopt Rocky by noon tomorrow, he will become one of the many wonderful dogs whose dreams are crushed. Share him, network him, but don’t delay—Rocky’s time is almost up!

COOKIE - A1056146 - Manhattan - Publicly Adoptable
TO BE DESTROYED 11/07/15 A volunteer writes: Surrendered by her family as they no longer have time for her, we’re told that she’s housetrained (check), lived with kids ages 10, 11, 13 and 17 and was friendly to and played gently with all, lived with a 4 year old cat whom she licked and played with, is well behaved when left home alone and loves to run in the park. I kept thinking Milano cookie (my favorite) as I spent timewith Cookie; rich, sweet, soft on the inside, absolutely delicious and you can’t stop after you’ve had one. Cookie is a little brindle morsel, petite, well groomed, tail waggy and friendly. She ignored dogs we passed on our walk, and in group play greets politely, solicits and engages in running play. In a backyard pen she loved playing with a plush toy, amusing herself, jumping for it when I tossed it, and taking it under the bench for a good chomp (but not tearing it apart). A proven family dog, Cookie is looking for a new family to love. She’s active, intelligent and a sweetheart hoping to start her ‘happily ever after’ with you.

SUMATRAN - A1056241 - Brooklyn - Publicly Adoptable
TO BE DESTROYED 11/07/15 Lovely SUMATRAN has itchy skin, and somebody did a regrettable job of cropping her ears, but those are merely external factors. Her photographs show that the eyes are, indeed, the windows to the soul, and her soul seems to be saying “love me for who I am. Don’t judge me by the poor care I had before I came to this awful place of stainless steel and uncaring people. See that I was friendly when they brought me here, see that I am capable of loving, deserving of being loved. Deserving of being saved.” Anyone who can see that in Sumatran’s eyes, needs to work very hard to save her life, tonight! The shelter only sees her as one more dog to kill tomorrow, which is why it’s vital that a foster or adopter be found for her immediately.
