NYC KILL SHELTERS!

The Truth About Spaying or Neutering Your Cat

An estimated 5 million to 8 million animals are euthanized in shelters across this country every year. Many organizations are working to decrease that number by opening low-cost spay/neuter clinics that will prevent more litters of cats that need homes. One such organization is LifeLine Animal Project, an Atlanta-based nonprofit shelter and clinic where more than 25,000 spaying and neutering procedures have been performed since 2005. Here, executive director Rebecca Guinn answers the most commonly asked questions about spaying and neuteringcats.
Q: Why should I have my cat spayed or neutered?
A: Shelter euthanasia is the number one killer of companion animals. Spaying and neutering is the only way to reduce or eliminate that. It’s also better for your pet’s health. And having a cat that’s spayed or neutered will make your life easier.

Poor Baby faces euthanasia?

SNOW - A1058845 - Brooklyn - Publicly Adoptable
TO BE DESTROYED 12/07/15 ** AVERAGE SAFER ** DO NOT LET SNOW FALL ** Snow is a beautiful eighty three pound American Bulldog mix that arrived at the ACC of NYC under circumstances that were completely out of her control. Her owner was arrested and now she must pay the price. The shelter has listed Snow to be destroyed tomorrow. Her intake went very well, she was noted for knowing basic commands and exhibited friendly behavior, earning an AVERAGE on her SAFER. As usual the dog will have to pay the price for an owner’s mistakes. Please help us find the right foster or adopter for Snow by noon tomorrow. Advocate and share mightily for this stunning white Bulldog – she will die if no one steps up.

JOJO - A1059505 - Brooklyn - Rescue Only
TO BE DESTROYED 12/07/15 **NEEDS A NEW HOPE RESCUE TO PULL** ON LIST AFTER 2 DAYS! It is hard to understand exactly what is going on with Jojo – he was brought to the shelter when his owner became too sick to care for him. His former owner stated JoJo has been with the family for 6 months. JoJo lived with 1 adult and 3 young children and no other animals. Jojo is reported to be affectionate and gentle with the children. Why he has been labeled RESCUE ONLY is baffling as he did well on his safer test except that he did not want to share his toy. Really – here is a dog who has just lost everything and maybe he was happy to have just one thing that was his – who knows. Jojo also seems to have some sort of medical issue and will need to see a vet – something that was not noted during intake. Makes one wonder what happened to him since his arrival. Regardless, Jojo needs a miracle tonight to save his life but it is said this is the season of miracles so let’s make it happen for Jojo. Please contact rescues NOW or email the help desk at helpdogs@urgentpodr.org for help. Jojo’s life depends on it. Please let’s not let him down.
