U.S. watches as Fukushima nuclear plant continues to leak radiation | 11 March 2016 | Five years after an accident at the Fukushima nuclear plant in Japan, some scientists continue to find found small amounts [?!?] of radioactive material along the West Coast of North America. And some of them say we should expect to see this in the ocean for decades to come. Elevated levels found off the coast of Japan show that the situation is not yet under control, and that the facility is still leaking radiation...Much of the radiation from the disaster leaked into the sea, leading to fears in other countries that the toxins would poison marine ecosystems and fisheries, and cause cancer or other health problems for humans.

India's Gujarat Nuclear Plant Shut Down After Major Heavy Water Leak | 12 March 2016 |  An emergency has been declared within the nuclear plant at Kakrapar in Gujarat after a major heavy water leak in a nuclear reactor. No worker has been exposed to radiation, said officials, adding that the employees remained sequestered till their shift ended, which is standard operating procedure for a crisis...The heavy water leak affected the reactor's cooling system. If emergency cooling systems do not kick in after this sort of glitch, the temperature can rise so much that the core of the reactor can melt down completely.
 
US Builds New Secret Prison in Iraq for Terror Suspects --Terror suspects captured by the targeting force could be held indefinitely under the Law of Armed Conflict - Pentagon | 13 March 2016 | The ISIS chemical weapons expert reportedly captured in a Special Forces raid last month was being held for interrogation at a new U.S. detention facility in Iraq, U.S. officials said Wednesday. The makeshift jail for terror suspects, the first set up by the U.S. since the 2011 troop withdrawal, was reportedly in or near Irbil, capital of the autonomous Kurdish region, and was being used to hold Sleiman Daoud al-Afari, a top operative for the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, or ISIS [or I-CIA-SIS].Without describing the detention facility or its location, Navy Capt. Jeff Davis, a Pentagon spokesman, essentially confirmed its existence.
 
Al Qaeda gunmen kill 16 in Ivory Coast beach attack | 13 March 2016 | Gunmen from al Qaeda's North African branch killed 16 people, including four Europeans, at a beach res-rt town in Ivory Coast on Sunday, the latest in a string of deadly attacks that have confirmed the Islamists' growing reach in West Africa. Six shooters targeted hotels on a beach at Grand Bassam, a weekend retreat popular with westerners about 40 km (25 miles) east of the commercial capital Abidjan, before being killed in clashes with Ivorian security forces, the government said. "Six attackers came onto the beach in Bassam this afternoon," Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara said during a visit to the site. "We have 14 civilians and two special forces soldiers who were unfortunately killed."
 
Second car bomb in a month kills 34 in Turkish capital, Ankara | 13 March 2016 | A car bomb tore through a crowded transport hub in the Turkish capital, Ankara, on Sunday, killing at least 34 people and wounding 125 in the second such attack in the administrative heart of the city in under a month. The blast, which could be heard several kilometers away, sent burning debris showering down over an area a few hundred meters (yards) from the Justice and Interior Ministries, a top courthouse, and the former office of the prime minister. Two senior security officials told Reuters the first findings suggested that the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), which has waged a three-decade insurgency for Kurdish autonomy, or an affiliated group, was responsible.
 
Two U.S. soldiers in South America contracted, recovered from Zika: commander | 10 March 2016 | Two U.S. soldiers serving in South America contracted Zika but have fully recovered and returned to duty, while a third, pregnant service member left the region early for fear of contracting the virus, a top U.S. commander said on Thursday. Zika infections have been linked to thousands of birth defects as the mosquito[Tdap vaccine]-borne virus spreads rapidly in Brazil and other countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. Two U.S. servicemembers stationed in Brazil and Colombia, both men, were confirmed to have contracted Zika, said Navy Admiral Kurt Tidd, commander of U.S. Southern Command.
 
Eagles of Death Metal Frontman: Security Might Have Been 'in on' Paris Attacks | 09 March 2016 | During an interview with the FOX Business Network's Kennedy, Jessie Hughes, the lead singer of the band Eagles of Death Metal opened up about a terrorist attack on his band and concertgoers that took place at a Paris concert, and he alleges that security guards at the venue may have been involved. "When I first got to the venue and walked in, I walked past the dude who was supposed to be the security guard for the backstage. He didn't even look at me. I immediately went to the promoter and said, 'Who's that guy? I want to put another dude on,' and he goes, 'well some of the other guards aren't here yet,' and eventually I found out that six or so wouldn't show up at all."

The Asian family said concerns were raised with them after the child drew a picture of a man cutting the vegetable with a large knife. Nursery staff in Luton, Beds, told the child's mother they believed he was saying "cooker bomb" when he was asked about the drawing, and discussed referring the case to the Home Office's 'Prevent' deradicalisation scheme.
 
FBI quietly changes its privacy rules for accessing NSA data on Americans | 08 March 2016 | The FBI has quietly revised its privacy rules for searching data involving Americans' international communications that was collected by the National Security Agency, US officials have confirmed to the Guardian. The classified revisions were accepted by the secret US court that governs surveillance, during its annual recertification of the agencies' broad surveillance powers. The new rules affect a set of powers colloquially known as Section 702, the portion of the law that authorizes the NSA's sweeping "Prism" program to collect internet data. Section 702 falls under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (Fisa), and is a provision set to expire later this year.
 
At least 5 killed in shooting outside Pittsburgh; police searching for 2 gunmen | 10 March 2016 | At least five people were killed and three others were wounded when gunmen apparently ambushed a backyard party in a Pittsburgh suburb late Wednesday, officials said. Allegany County Lt. Andrew Schurman confirmed early Thursday that four women and one man were killed in the shooting at around 11 p.m. on Franklin Avenue in Wilkinsburg, just east of downtown Pittsburgh. Schurman said four people were dead on arrival at a local hospital and a fifth person later died from her injuries...Investigators said the shooters appeared to have fled the scene on foot.
 
White House Dismisses Donald Trump, Bernie Sanders on Trans-Pacific Corporate Takeover | 09 March 2016 | President Barack Obama is not concerned that his Trans-Pacific free trade dealcorporate takeover will face more opposition in Congress, even after Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Donald Trump won the parties' primaries in Michigan, a White House spokesman [Josh Earnest] claimed March 9. According to exit polls of Michigan, nearly 60 percent of voters said they believed 'free trade' takes away jobs, while only 30 percent said it creates jobs. Both winning politicians were staunchly opposed to the deal, and both campaigned against it in the state.
 
Ohio lost 112,500 jobs due to trade with TPP countries - EPI | 07 March 2016 | Ohio lost 112,500 jobs in 2015 resulting from the United States' trade deficit with countries that are part of the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement, according to an analysis by the Economic Policy Institute. That places Ohio sixth, in terms of the percentage of jobs lost to trade with TPP countries, among the 50 states and the District of Columbia ranked in the report released Thursday by the liberal Washington, D.C.-based think tank. The lost jobs represent nearly 2.2 percent of employment in Ohio, according to the analysis. (graphic)
 
Secret Service Forms Human Shield Around Donald Trump as Candidate Is Rushed on Stage at Ohio Rally | 12 March 2016 | Donald Trump had quite the scare at a campaign event in Ohio this afternoon. The GOP presidential frontrunner was giving a speech when a person from the crowd began rushing the stage, breaking through security and throwing an unknown object at Trump. Secret Service agents immediately jumped onto the stage and formed a human shield around Trump as other agents rushed after the suspect in the crowd. ABC News reports that a frightening scene unfolded at a Donald Trump rally this morning just a day after protests broke out at a planned University of Illinois campaign event in Chicago.
 
Trump considers paying legal bills for man charged at Fayetteville rally | 13 March 2016 | Donald Trump says he's "instructed my people" to explore the possibility of helping pay the legal bills for a 78-year-old man charged with assault at a Trump rally. Authorities have said John Franklin McGraw of Linden, North Carolina, was charged after he was caught on video hitting a man deputies were escorting at a Trump rally last Wednesday in Fayetteville. Trump tells NBC's "Meet the Press" that McGraw "got carried away" and "maybe he doesn't like seeing what's happening to the country."
 
Police used pepper spray, arrested 2 at Trump rally | 13 March 2016 | Another Donald Trump rally made national headlines for violent clashes between protesters and his supporters, this time in Kansas City, Mo. Police said they used pepper spray twice outside a Trump rally Saturday night outside of the Republican frontrunner's rally. Two people were arrested for breaking the law, police said in a tweet.
 
Trump rally in Chicago postponed amid growing security concerns | 11 March 2016 | Donald Trump's campaign rally in Chicago on Friday was postponed amid growing security concerns. "Mr. Trump just arrived in Chicago and after meeting with law enforcement has determined that for the safety of all of the tens of thousands of people that have gathered in and around the arena, tonight's rally will be postponed to another date," the Trump campaign said in a statement. "Thank you very much for your attendance and please go in peace." Several fights between Trump supporters and protesters could be seen after the announcement, as a large contingent of Chicago police officers moved in to restore order.
 
Video Reveals Michelle Fields Not Even Bumped by Trump Campaign Manager | 13 March 2016 | Breitbart reporter [sic] Michelle Fields made headlines when she said Donald Trump's campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, grabbed her and threw her down on the ground at the Jupiter, Florida, victory speech on Tuesday night. Fields filed criminal assault charges with Jupiter police against Lewandowski on Friday. Fields claims she suffered a slight bruise when Lewandowski "intentionally" assaulted her...On Saturday a new video was released. It clearly shows Lewandowski trying to get Trump out of the room after ending the presser. Reporters are swarming Trump including Michelle Fields. Secret Service is also around Trump. The video shows Lewandowski walking past Fields. No contact was made. He didn't even bump into her.
 
Ben Carson endorses Donald Trump | 11 March 2016 | Ben Carson threw his support behind Donald Trump Friday morning, saying the two men had "buried the hatchet" and praising the Republican Party's front-runner as a "the voice of the people to be heard." Speaking at a news conference here at Trump's private club, Mar-a-Lago, the retired neurosurgeon echoed Trump's recent calls for party unity and pleaded with the GOP to allow the "political process to play out." "What I've been seeing recently is political operatives...once again trying to assert themselves and trying to thwart the will of the people," Carson said.
 
CNN Poll of Polls: Donald Trump leads in Ohio, Florida | 11 March 2016 | Donald Trump is narrowly leading Ohio Gov. John Kasich in his state's Republican primary although the GOP front-runner holds a substantial lead over his rivals in Florida, according to analysis from CNN's Poll of Polls released Friday. Ohio and Florida voters go to the polls Tuesday. In Ohio, Trump has support from 36% of voters while Kasich has 34%. Texas Sen. Ted Cruz has 17% while Florida Sen. Marco Rubio is at 8%.
 
46,000 Pa. Democrats Become Republicans Due to Trump - Report | 10 March 2016 | Nearly 46,000 Pennsylvania Democrats have switched to Republicans since the beginning of the year. According to Penn Live, some experts attribute the mass exodus to Donald Trump. It's called "Ditch and Switch" and calls for lifelong Democrats to abandon the party, register Republican, and help ensure Trump's place in the general election...The paper says in Massachusetts, as many as 20,000 Democrats have gone from blue-to-red this year with Trump cited as a primary reason. And in Ohio, as many as 1,000 blue collar workers have promised to switch parties and vote for Trump.
