The judgment came on a plea by hundreds of families in the north-eastern State of Manipur for a probe by a Special Investigation Team into 1,528 cases of alleged fake encounters involving the Army and the police.

by Dr Gideon Polya

http://www.countercurrents.org/2016/07/09/holocaust-denial-uk-chilcot-inquiry-whitewashes-iraqi-holocaust-and-iraqi-genocide/

In another example of outrageous British Establishment mendacity, the inexpert, Zionist-subverted, UK Iraq Inquiry, aka the Chilcot Inquiry, criticized intelligence failures re non-existent Iraqi WMD but whitewashed the US-, UK- and Australia-complicit, 1990-2011  Iraqi Genocide and Iraqi Holocaust in which 4.6 million Iraqis died from violence (1.7 million)  or from violently-imposed deprivation (2.9 million) by (a) suggesting that about 150,000 Iraqis may have died due to the 2003-2011 invasion and occupation, (b)  ignoring  Coalition war crimes including the  illegality of the invasion per se,  (c) ignoring the real reasons for the invasion (oil, US hegemony and Apartheid Israel) , and (d) implicitly approving such war criminal invasions if done better

Venezuela And When People Are Forced To Eat Shit!
by Andre Vltchek

http://www.countercurrents.org/2016/07/09/venezuela-and-when-people-are-forced-to-eat-shit/

No one wants to eat shit. Nobody wants the people of Venezuela to eat shit! But if the choice is between tenderloin as a reward for betrayal, and rotten vegetables to sustain you while fighting your treasonous elites and an indirect foreign invasion, in a ‘normal’ society the choice is obvious! And then, after victory is finally achieved, for those who are forcing their own proud patriots to eat shit

Civilian Drones: Are They Intruding Or Serving?
by Owais Farooqui

http://www.countercurrents.org/2016/07/09/civlian-drones-are-they-intruding-or-serving/

Drones have immense potential for civilian applications but proactive steps should be taken for their usage. And in implementing drones for civilian purposes, protecting privacy is a ‘key’. As Edward Snowden has very aptly remarked that “If you don’t care about privacy because you have nothing to hide, it’s like saying you don’t care about free speech because you have nothing to say”.

UN: Root Of US Police Terror Is ‘Lack Of Accountability For Perpetrators’
by Robert J Barsocchini

http://www.countercurrents.org/2016/07/09/un-root-of-us-police-terror-is-lack-of-accountability-for-perpetrators/

US police kill approximately 1,000 people per year according to Federal statistics, disproportionately targeting particularly African and Native Americans.  The UN expert panel on people of African descent observed this week that these killings “demonstrate a high level of structural and institutional racism. The United States is far from recognizing the same rights for all its citizens.”

When Shall We Have Our Asian Union
by Dr S Faizi

http://www.countercurrents.org/2016/07/09/when-shall-we-have-our-asian-union/

When the media and the cyber world of Indians are agog with reports and comments on the results of Britain’s referendum on quitting the European Union, we fail to notice the most pertinent point underlying the whole event. That is, the importance of a well mandated regional organisation. It is high time Asia had its regional organisation to secure a common Asian future, ending the costly hostilities and political egos.

Right To Road Must First Go To Pedestrians, Non-Motorised Vehicles
by Bobby Ramakant

http://www.countercurrents.org/2016/07/09/right-to-road-must-first-go-to-pedestrians-non-motorised-vehicles/

Governments of UN member countries had committed to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030 at last year’s UN General Assembly, one of which (SDG 3.6) is to “halve the number of global deaths and injuries from road traffic accidents” by 2020. Citizens need to hold governments to account that road accident deaths are declining locally on daily basis, and declining fast enough so as to meet SDGs on (or before) slated deadline.
