CounterCurrents: The Palestine Exception To Free Speech In The U. S., In Latin America, The Empire Strikes Back
Dear Friend,
Today is the tenth anniversary of the day WikiLeaks came into existence. How it changed free speech! How it changed free speech! How it motivated more truth tellers to come forward ! Let there be more WikiLeaks, more transparency in governance.
Our resources are depleting fast. The global capitalist system has enclosed, commodified and put a money value into each one of them. These resources belong to not just to us, but also to the future generations. Will there be anything left after the marauding capitalist greed ate into each one them? Sustainability can be achieved after commoning global resources by applying the commons principle after wisely moderating the demands on common resources. It needs wisdom. Are we humans wise enough?
It was a quiet day on the India-Pakistan front. Soumya Dutta questions India's threat to withdraw from the Indus Water Treaty. He asks, "can we imagine a South Asia after this – even if it is possible at great human cost on both sides of the political border ? The drumbeats of a crooked war are on the rise / Millions will be deprived water, as ultimate price/ Blood-thirsty war hounds know no morals / Lives, kinships, shared identities – all for sacrifice."
And also more stories from around the world.
If you don't mind, and if you think the content of this news letter is critical for the dignified living and survival of humanity and other species on earth, please forward it to your friends and spread the word. It's time for humanity to come together as one family! You can subscribe to our news letter here http://www.countercurrents.org/news-letter/.

We are now entering WikiLeaks 10 year anniversary. The organization registered their domain on October 4, 2006 and blazed into the public limelight in the spring of 2010 with the publication of Collateral Murder.
Transforming Global Resources Into Commons
by Gerhard Scherhorn
http://www.countercurrents.org/2016/10/04/transforming-global-resources-into-commons/
Sustainability is commoning global resources by applying the commons principle of wisely moderating demands on common resources. It is time to ask what perspectives will open up when we proceed this way.

Can we imagine a South Asia after this – even if it is possible at great human cost on both sides of the political border ? The drumbeats of a crooked war are on the rise / Millions will be deprived water, as ultimate price/ Blood-thirsty war hounds know no morals / Lives, kinships, shared identities – all for sacrifice.
Enough Of CIA’s “Enough Project” In Africa
by Thomas C Mountain

Enough of the CIA’s “Enough Project” in Africa. With Hollywood superstar George Clooney as it’s talking head, EP, as it is known, was founded by senior US Intel “spook” Gayle Smith, former Senior Director of the National Security Council under President Obama and now head of the USAID/CIA
In Latin America, The Empire Strikes Back
by Chris Hedges
http://www.countercurrents.org/2016/10/04/in-latin-america-the-empire-strikes-back/
Corporate leviathans and the imperialist agencies that work on their behalf are once again reshaping Latin America into havens for corporate exploitation. It is the eternal story of the struggle by the weak against the strong, the poor against the rich, the powerless against the powerful, and those who would be free against the forces of imperialism.
The Palestine Exception To Free Speech In The U. S.
by Dr Ludwig Watzal
http://www.countercurrents.org/2016/10/04/the-palestine-exception-to-free-speech-in-the-u-s/
The Palestine human rights movement and its advocates in the U. S. are under a growing pressure because of their criticism of Israel’s oppressive and deadly policy against the People of Palestine. The BDS campaign was the last straw that led to a coalition, which uses all available means to suppress freedom of speech.
Hillary’s Boast On Iran Sanctions Reveal Her Criminal Mentality

Come Election Day, when I enter the curtained booth at my polling location, I will be thinking of those victims — from Palestine, Iran, and Iraq to Honduras, Yugoslavia, and Ukraine — and mark my ballot accordingly.
Kamaraj:The Selfless Leader
by Tata Sivaih
http://www.countercurrents.org/2016/10/04/kamarajthe-selfless-leader/
Kamaraj was a rarity in Indian politics, and undoubtedly the tallest leader in Tamil Nadu. A school dropout and freedom fighter who went on to become the Congress president despite knowing no Hindi and no English. His genuine concern for the poor was matched only by his scrupulous honesty and integrity.
