Prius Ends Up Wedged In Doorway

Man critically injured after vehicle crashes about 20 feet into building

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Metro police are investigating after a Toyota Prius crashed into a building on the near northwest side Monday night.
Officers were called to the scene of the crash near the intersection of 21st Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Street around 7:20 p.m.
Officials say a man in his late teens was driving north on MLK when he went through a light too fast and crashed into a Bodycote Thermal Processing building. Officers say the vehicle went about 20 feet in and ended up on its side in the building’s front office space and conference room.
Authorities say the driver was conscious enough to try and get himself out out of the vehicle. He was extricated and transported to Methodist Hospital in critical condition.
FOX59 is told nine people were inside the building during the crash. They all got out safely.
IFD’s Rita Reith says the building was ruled structurally sound and all utilities were secured.
It’s unclear if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. Officials say there were no obvious signs at the scene.
Authorities believe the intersection will be closed until around 10:30 p.m. Monday due to the crash.

Prius Ends Up Wedged In Doorway

What you’re looking at up there used to be a Toyota Prius, and, yes, it’s crammed into a doorway of a building. The bizarre location for a Prius happened as the result of a crash in Indianapolis, where a teenaged driver ran a red light and crashed into a building. The driver is in critical condition, but responsive. The Prius, less so.
