In just a minute, I am going to ask you to make a contribution to VoteVets. But before I do, I want to talk to you about the ad we've been running and why your donation means so much.
A lot of people have asked why we're running this ad -- the one featuring an Afghanistan veteran who lost his leg -- and why we're placing the spot on Morning Joe, Saturday Night Live, and on Donald Trump's Twitter feed.
Two reasons: first, Trump's policies are hurting veterans and military family members at home and making us less safe abroad. He needs to hear that message. Second, he has frozen veterans out of his feedback loop. The White House comment line is shut down. There's no veterans hotline that he promised.
And his veterans affairs meetings are just roundtables with hospital executives.
And what we have to say is important, so we're going to do whatever we can to make sure it's heard. But we can't do it alone -- so here's the part where I have to ask:
Make a $10 contribution to VoteVets to help us elevate the voices of veterans and military families members committed to stopping Donald Trump's dangerous agenda.
We've gotten a lot attention for our ad, but we're just getting started. Whether it's his federal hiring freeze, efforts to take away health care from 30 million Americans, his Muslim ban and threats to bring back torture, his policies are hurting veterans. We won't stop holding him accountable until he starts reconsidering his radical agenda.
All my best,
