Bible Thumper Rep. Jodey Arrington (R-Tex.) ignored FACTS!

"...Out of all who participate in SNAP, 64% are unable to work because they are elderly, disabled, or children. 22% do work full time. Only 14% of beneficiaries work less than 30/hrs a week, are unemployed, or are registered for work...."

Rep. Jodey Arrington’s (R-Tex.) comments came during a House Agriculture Committee hearing on SNAP benefits, after one of the hearing’s expert witnesses quoted the book of Leviticus.
“In Leviticus, we are commanded to leave the corners of our fields and the gleanings of our harvest and vineyards for the poor and the stranger,” said Josh Protas, Vice President of Public Policy MAZON: A Jewish Response to Hunger. “This commandment is a clear expression of our collective responsibility for each other.”
Arrington responded with a favorite Bible verse among conservatives who are against welfare programs: 2 Thessalonians 3:10.
“I did hear Mr. Protas, your opening remarks, where you quoted Leviticus, I believe,” Arrington said. “And I think that’s a great reflection on the character of God and the compassion of God’s heart and how we ought to reflect that compassion in our lives. But there’s also, you know, in the Scripture, tells us in 2 Thessalonians chapter 3:10 he says, uh, ‘for even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: if a man will not work, he shall not eat.’ And then he goes on to say ‘we hear that some among you are idle’ …  I think it’s a reasonable expectation that we have work requirements.”
Putting aside the irony of talking about the importance of compassion in one sentence and then going on to say jobless people deserve to starve in the next, that Bible verse is actually not even addressed to the poor.
2 Thessalonians is one of many letters that St. Paul wrote to early members of the Christian church. The verse is referring to early Christians who were neglecting the Lord’s work because they believed the apocalypse was coming soon.
“The sin is sloth, indolence, inactivity,” said Al Mohler, the president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. “This is not an issue of inability. I don’t think it has been, in the history of the church.”
The issue of “inability” isn’t discussed much on the conservative side of the food stamp debate. Arrington and many other Republicans often make it a point to shame those on the program as leeches of society who are too lazy to work.

BREAKING: A federal judge just handed down a "guilty" verdict against Donald Trump.
The "president" is officially a criminal. Impeach him NOW.
A federal judge declared Trump guilty.

 ·
Since announcing his run for presidency, Trump has been drowning in scandalsNow, a judge has declared that Trump University was indeed a fraud, and Trump has to pay up.
Judge Gonzalo Curiel has approved a settlement regarding Trump University’s defrauding of innocent people for $25 MILLION dollars. The people who filed the lawsuit claim that Trump defrauded them into paying for classes at his so-called university.
The judge commented said that the settlement was, “fair, adequate, and reasonable.” While I think Trump’s victims deserve MUCH more, and Trump deserves MASSIVE punitive damages, this is a step in the right direction.
This settlement will allow at least 4,000 students to get their money back from Trump’s fraudulent scheme of teaching them about real estate when he really just wanted to take their money.
This settlement was initially entered into just 10 days after Trump was elected and has now just received approval from the court.
Trump’s agreement to the settlement is a guilty plea that he defrauded all these people. He’s a criminal and he is officially disqualified from office.
The ironic thing is, it was Trump himself that said that he does not like to settle because then everyone tries to sue you. Can you imagine if this case had gone all the way to trial?
So why would he not fight his case if he did not commit a fraud on all these people? It is because he is guilty.
However, it would be great to see Trump have to get deposed or cross-examined as the sitting President about all the fraud and dishonesty that he is involved in.
What Trump did was sick. He and his goons encouraged victims young and old to maximize their credit cards in order to large amounts of money to Trump.
This settlement is a good step but Trump has a history of not paying people, even if they do a good job for him. Hopefully, Trump actually pays these victims.
To be a part of Trump University you had to pay at least $1,495 but some victims paid as much as $10,000 or $35,000 for the more expense classes.
Sherri B. Simpson was the only one to object to the settlement because she wants to see Trump in the hot seat.
What do you think of Trump pleading guilty to defrauding the victims of Trump University?
