The Murder of Unarmed Stephon Clark

I want you to take a look at this timeline, everyone.
March 18: Sacramento police shoot and kill Stephon Clark, an unarmed black man who was holding his phone in his grandmother’s backyard.
March 20: Sacramento County District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert accepts $10,000 in campaign donations from the state police union.
March 23: Anne Marie Schubert accepts $3,000 more in contributions from the Sacramento police union.
Isn’t it a little odd that Anne Marie Schubert -- who is tasked with holding police officers accountable for murdering Stephon Clark -- would accept those contributions, just a few days after the shooting? Isn’t it an interesting time for police unions to suddenly offer up so much cash for Schubert’s reelection campaign?
What’s most disturbing is that they didn’t even try to hide it. They thought they could get away with this, that they could keep on funding this campaign to elect Anne Marie Schubert, reelect her, and buy their way out of trouble.
Not this time.
The nine Sacramento Democrats below endorsed the Republican District Attorney – the official tasked with holding police officers accountable for murdering Stephon Clark, but who instead took $13,000 in campaign donations from police unions within five days of the murder.
Here's our call to action for everyone. Read it, sign it, share it, and I'll check back in a few days to give you an update, ok?Tell these Democrats to rescind their endorsement of Republican Anne Marie Schubert by signing our petition right now. This is how change happens.
In solidarity,
Shaun King
