The Urgency to Avoid Desperation
As a community-supported organization we accept life without deep-pockets. The consequence is that when fundraising drives fail, bad things happen.
April is a month in which we must find a way to reach our fundraising goal. Doing so will be sufficient, not doing so will lead to serious problems.
A few of you are responding, thank you. The vast majority however are not.
We need your help.

The US Is Tracking Migrant Girls' Periods to Stop Them From Getting Abortions
Jennifer Wright, Harper's Bazaar
Wright writes: "We still don't know where 1,488 migrant children are. The U.S. government lost them. They admit as much. Even though the court ordered a halt to the policy of family separation, 245 more children have been taken from their parents. So they can't figure out where children separated from their parents are, but by God, they can keep track of teenage migrant girls' menstrual cycles."

Chernobyl's Disastrous Cover-Up Is a Warning for the Next Nuclear Age
Kate Brown, Guardian UK
Brown writes: "In believing that the Chernobyl zone safely contained the accident, we fall for the proximity trap, which holds that the closer a person is to a nuclear explosion, the more radioactivity they are exposed to. But radioactive gases follow weather patterns, moving around the globe to leave shadows of contamination in shapes that resemble tongues, kidneys, or the sharp tips of arrows."
