A heartbreak no dad should endure

Can you help?

My name is Scott. A couple months ago I lost my son Danny to the evil of our for-profit healthcare system.

I’ve been invited to share my story at the Single Payer Conference this October in Portland, but I can’t afford the trip.

This is a great opportunity for me to connect with other activists who are also organizing for Medicare for All. If you can, please donate - all the funds will go towards my travel expenses, and any extra will go towards Healthcare-NOW's Leadership Development program!

Danny was on a very expensive anti-depressant medication that costs over $250 out of pocket. He missed a $20 payment to Fidelis, the insurer that managed his Medicaid; he was told he would have to wait a month and a half until his coverage was reinstated.

He started rationing his medication, and then finally ran out. One of the symptoms of withdrawal from this drug is suicidal thoughts. In early April, Danny took his own life by driving into the Mohawk River.
DONATE NOW
I have always been a supporter of Medicare for All, but now it’s my life mission to make sure this never happens to another family. I've reached out to every news outlet and many progressive members of Congress who are helping to amplify my story.

If you can - please support me and HCN’s Leadership Development School!

Thank you,

Scott Desnoyers
