The Social Security surplus funded WARS fought on the credit card.
Republicans continue to prove themselves incapable of governing!
Still gonna vote for 'em?

How did we get to the is point? One document, produced by the House Freedom Caucus, holds…
Why
#Boehner wanted out and no one wants the
#Speaker job. If the candidate doesn’t agree to the demands of the House "Freedom" Caucus, they cannot secure enough votes to become speaker. But if they do agree to their demands, they will be unable to pass legislation that is necessary to avoid disastrous consequences for the country.
Here are just a few of their demands:
• Tie any increase in the debt ceiling to cuts to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.
• Conditions to avoid government shutdown: no funding for Planned Parenthood, Obamacare, the Iran Deal, and President Obama's immigration executive orders
• Oppose any “omnibus” bill that would keep the government running. Rather, funding for each aspect of government could only be approved by separate bills. This would allow the Republicans to attempt to finance certain favored aspects of government (the military), while shuttering ones they view as largely unnecessary (education, health).
Older Americans have good reason to keep an eye on the House of Representatives leadership saga.
The House GOP "Freedom Caucus" circulated a questionnaire asking for "a commitment from the next speaker to tie any increase in the debt ceiling to cuts to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid."
The far-right House "freedom caucus" is demanding the the next speaker refuse the raise the debt ceiling - unless they can push through cuts to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.
