We're winning on Planned Parenthood

When House Republicans insisted that Congress either defund Planned Parenthood or shut down the government last week, MoveOn members fought back—and Planned Parenthood and the federal government are still open.
Thank you for speaking out and taking action to stand with Planned Parenthood.
The attack on Planned Parenthood and women's right to safe, legal abortion is far from over. The U.S. House voted on Wednesday to create a "select committee" to investigate not only fetal tissue donation but also abortion practices.1 This is the fifth congressional committee to investigate Planned Parenthood—even after numerous, politically motivated state-level investigations have come up empty-handed.2
We know the witch hunt and attack on abortion rights will continue, and we'll continue to fight back.
But right now, I want to take a moment to tell you just how proud I am that MoveOn was able to share with Planned Parenthood our best-in-class technology for organizing grassroots events for Pink Out Day on September 29. Several of our campaigners, field organizers, and grassroots leaders stepped up in a major way to make it all happen.
We partnered with Planned Parenthood to hold 138 #PinkOut rallies and visibility events—about half of which were organized by MoveOn members—across the country from Unalaska, Alaska, to Belfast, Maine. MoveOn members stood in solidarity with Planned Parenthood and in support of reproductive freedom.

As Kansas MoveOn member Teresa D. stated at one of the Pink Out events, "These continued attacks by extremist politicians on women's health are part of a dangerous agenda to roll back access to reproductive health care and ban abortion. We're lifting up our voices and telling our stories to let Congress know that we stand with Planned Parenthood."
Pink Out Day is just one of the ways MoveOn is standing with Planned Parenthood. We simply will not allow anti-abortion extremists in Congress to destroy an organization that helps so many people—or to roll back women's rights and access to health care.
Thanks for all you do.

P.S. I recently traveled to Washington, D.C., where I met in person with Senators Elizabeth Warren and Harry Reid to help bring them 1.2 million signatures—including your signature—supporting Planned Parenthood from MoveOn members and key partners CREDO, Democracy for America, and Daily Kos. Sens. Warren and Reid promised to help ensure Democrats stand strong—but they need our help holding Republicans accountable.
