Lauren Burm, Entergy's former spokeswoman for Pilgrim Nuclear Power Plant, is the new public affairs manager for DONG Energy's North American business.
DONG Energy/Bay State Wind has also hired Maryanne Jefferson, former chief of staff to Sen. Richard Ross, as executive assistant to Thomas Brostrom, DONG'S US general manager. Jefferson also previously worked as executive assistant to Alicia Barton at the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center. Burm is handling media and outreach.
Bay State Wind is DONG Energy's first US project and entails an up to 1,000 megawatt offshore wind farm off the southern coast of Martha's Vineyard, in an area that the federal Bureau of Ocean Energy Management has made available for lease. Water depth in the area ranges from 135 to 165 feet and the nearest land is 15 miles away.
The potential wind power from the project is enough to power over 500,000 homes, and the company expects that first power can be delivered in the early 2020s.
