In the News - The Sheriff Department refused to seize him, so they just left him to die! May justice be served for this poor horse.
Despite constant calling and citizen complaints, the Hale County, Alabama, Sheriff Department did nothing to help a grey horse left tied to a stake in a field. Over the course of 3 months, as the horse deteriorated in health, the Sheriff Department refused to seize the horse. The deputy who responded to the calls told one person, Nancy Weart, that he couldn’t find the owner of the horse, and couldn’t seize the horse without finding and arresting the owner. Weart attempted to purchase the horse from the owner, but he yelled at her and ordered her from his property.
The horse passed away in his pasture, tied to a stake, as police and his owner did nothing. The Hale County Sheriff Department has launched an internal review to see if protocol was followed, but for Weart and other witness’, that is simply not enough.

Dee Dee: Suffering from physical and emotion trauma.
Meet Dee Dee. Lake Charles Pit Bull Rescue pulled her from their local shelter yesterday. She was picked up as a stray and after waiting the required minimum hold time the shelter contacted them to help her. She is roughly 8 months old. She has a severe case of deomodex mange along with secondary skin infections. She was, literally, bleeding from open wounds when L.C.P.B.R. picked her up.
They took her immediately to their emergency vet where she was given 3 medicated baths and started on treatment for the demodex mange as well as a month of antibiotics for her skin infections. And as we all know, in rescue, this is just the beginning.
But, it's not her skin that breaks L.C.P.B.R. heart the most. It's her emotional scars. When they sit on the ground to love on her she will only come to rescuers by scooting on her belly, grunting, and peeing on herself. They have also noticed that she sleeps with her head buried under her blankets. As a rescue, it's not only the physical pain and injuries we must heal but, the emotional injuries as well. We all know those take the longest to heal. Dee Dee's recovery will be a long road but with your help we can save her!
Please consider making a purchase to help save her! We have partnered with Lake Charles Pit Bull Rescue to raise the funds needed to care for Dee Dee. With every product purchased, we will donate $10 to give Dee Dee the life she truly deserves and was always meant to have.
