FBI investigating California massacre as 'act of terrorism' | 05 Dec 2015 | The FBI is investigating the massacre of 14 people in California by a married couple armed with assault rifles as an "act of terrorism," officials said on Friday, noting the wife was believed to have pledged allegiance to a leader of the militant group Islamic State. Tashfeen Malik, 27, a native of Pakistan who lived in Saudi Arabia for more than 20 years, and her U.S.-born husband, Syed Rizwan Farook, 28, were killed in a shootout with police hours after the Wednesday attack during a holiday party at the Inland Regional Center social services agency in San Bernardino, about 60 miles (100 km) east of Los Angeles. If the mass shooting proves to have been the work of people inspired by Islamist militants, as investigators now suspect, it would mark the deadliest such attack in the United States since [the false flag on] Sept. 11, 2001.

FBI says San Bernardino attacks considered act of terrorism; shooter pledged allegiance to Islamic State leader | 04 Dec 2015 | The FBI director said Friday that the San Bernardino massacre is being treated as an act of terrorism, and investigators are scrutinizing the digital footprints of the husband-and-wife killers to determine who, if anyone, may have known about the plot. "The investigation so far has developed indications of radicalization by the killers and of potential inspiration by foreign terrorist organizations," FBI Director James Comey said...For two days the FBI would not say if the shooting at the Inland Regional Center was terrorism or an unusually elaborate case of workplace violence. One pivotal shift in the investigation appeared to be the discovery of a Facebook post [allegedly] attributed to Tashfeen Malik, 27, who police say carried out the killing spree alongside her husband, Syed Rizwan Farook, 28.

Alleged San Bernardino shooter pledged allegiance to Isis, reports say  | 04 Dec 2015 | One of the two people accused of killing 14 at a holiday party in California apparently pledged allegiance to a leader of Islamic State militant group, according to numerous reports on Friday. Reuters, the Associated Press, CNN and the New York Times all reported that Tashfeen Malik pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group and the terror group's leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi on Facebook, with some saying she used an alias and then deleted the messages before the attack. The media organizations citied unnamed US law enforcement or government sources. CNN reported that one US official said Malik had pledged allegiance to Baghdadi on Wednesday, the day of the attack.

Arsenal of explosives, ammunition found at home of San Bernardino attackers as FBI seeks motive --Two of the 14 people killed and three of the 21 people injured were not county employees, police said Thursday. | 03 Dec 2015 | Authorities said Thursday they are looking for a motive behind the deadliest U.S. mass shooting in nearly three years, even as they revealed that the attackers had amassed a stockpile of explosives and ammunition. Police said Thursday night that a total of 30 of the 35 people shot on Wednesday were county employees...Four hours later, 23 law enforcement officers from seven different agencies engaged in a frenzied shootout that left the two suspects dead on a residential street. The FBI has taken over the investigation, with authorities scrutinizing three crime scenes: The Inland Regional Center, the site of the mass shooting; the street in San Bernardino where the police and the suspects had their gun battle; and the rented home in Redlands where authorities said the suspects had an arsenal of pipe bombs and thousands of rounds of ammunition.

San Bernardino Shooters Used Four Guns, Explosive Device: ATF | 03 Dec 2015 | The suspects in the San Bernardino holiday party shooting were armed with four guns, an explosive device and several magazines of ammunition in a "well-planned" attack, police and federal officials said. Syed Rizwan Farook, 28, a U.S.-born health inspector for San Bernardino County, and Tashfeen Malik, 27, were carrying two .223-caliber assault rifles and two semi-automatic handguns...An "explosive device" was found at the scene of the Wednesday's shooting spree, while items made to look like pipe bombs were thrown during the pursuit, according to Bureau of Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives spokeswoman Meredith Davis.

San Bernardino County sheriff spokeswoman Coral Castro told Newsday that San Bernardino police are still searching for the trio of suspects. Authorities said 14 people were killed and at least 14 more were at area hospitals, some with "significant injuries."...A witness told CNN his daughter was evacuated from the building. "She said she thought it was a drill," he said. Starting last year, the staff began completing active shooter drills. [San Bernardino County participated in an active shooter exercise YESTERDAY. 'It looks the three actors have been caught.' Wow, blatant. (MSNBC) See also, for historical perspective: Active shooter drills held in Rancho Cucamonga | 01 Aug 2013 | Various law enforcement agencies in San Bernardino County worked together Thursday for hands-on drills simulating an active shooter inside a movie theater. They gathered at the Victoria Gardens Shopping Center in Rancho Cucamonga. During an early-morning drill, girls came out screaming for help, and the sheriff's department went into the movie theater in full tactical gear and guns drawn as if it were a real event. Officials have been practicing the drill all week. The Rancho Cucamonga Fire Department was one of the agencies participating in the event... Members of the fire department will go in with a team of armed law enforcement officers before the scene has been deemed completely safe to treat the seriously wounded. It's a technique modeled after what combat soldiers do to treat the wounded in a war zone. The decision opens the military's most elite units to women who can meet the rigorous requirements for the positions for the first time, including in the Navy SEALs, Army Special Forces and other Special Operations Units. It also opens the Marine Corps infantry, a battle-hardened force that many service officials had openly advocated keeping closed to female service members.

All the operative would say was that the woman was identified by researchers during a deep dive into Rubio's disastrous personal finances.

Global warming could suffocate life on Earth as oxygen levels fall, research shows | 01 Dec 2015 | Falling oxygen levels caused by global warming could be a greater threat to the survival of life on planet Earth than flooding, according to researchers from the University of Leicester published in Bulletin of Mathematical Biology. A study led by Sergei Petrovskii, Professor in Applied Mathematics from the University of Leicester's Department of Mathematics, has shown that an increase in the water temperature of the world's oceans of around six degrees Celsius -- which some scientists predict could occur as soon as 2100 -- could stop oxygen production by phytoplankton by disrupting the process of photosynthesis.
