Breaking: Up to 20 shot in San Bernardino, Calif., 'active shooters' sought --3 confirmed dead --Lockdown situation; 'multiple SWAT agencies,' armored police vehicles (BearCats), fire-fighters, ATF, FBI, and multiple agencies on scene --Nearby hospitals preparing for influx of victims --Suspect is wearing tactical gear, 'heavily armed' (MSNBC live) [I'm thinking that 'multiple agencies' were on the scene, long before the situation unfolded.] | 02 Dec 2015 | Up to 20 people were shot Wednesday at a social services office in San Bernardino, and officials said they were looking for one or more "active shooters." The San Bernardino Fire Department said the shooting took place on the 1300 block of Waterman Avenue, near Orange Show Road. Sgt. Vicki Cervantes, a spokeswoman for the San Bernardino Police Department, told reporters at the scene up to three shooters were reported inside the Inland Regional Center. Officers have not secured the building and going door-to-door. The suspects, she said, are heavily armed and were possibly wearing body armor.
At least 12 killed in active-shooter situation near Los Angeles | 02 Dec 2015 | Police said there may be multiple victims in an active-shooting situation in San Bernardino Wednesday. Sources tell our sister station, KABC, that up to 12 people were killed...Investigators were searching the building and have yet to clear it. Police said there were reports of one to three shooters involved, and they were described to be wearing ski masks. A source confirmed to Eyewitness News that there were three shooters armed with rifles, and there were no suspects in custody. Shortly before noon, dozens of people were seen exiting the building with their hands up.
Russia presents proof of Turkey's role in ISIS oil trade | 02 Dec 2015 | The Russian Defense Ministry has released evidence which it says unmasks vast illegal oil trade by Islamic State and points to Turkey as the main destination for the smuggled petrol, implicating its leadership in aiding the terrorists. The Russian Defense Ministry held a major briefing on new findings concerning IS funding in Moscow on Wednesday. According to Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov, Russia is aware of three main oil smuggling routes to Turkey.
Islamic State 'Has 300 Recruiters Online in US' | 01 Dec 2015 | At least 300 Americans, nearly a third of them apparently women, are acting as Islamic State recruiters on social media, according to a study. They primarily use Twitter to urge sympathisers to travel overseas to join the self-declared caliphate, or to plan attacks within the US, found George Washington University's Program on Extremism. There are currently 900 active investigations into Islamic State sympathisers in all 50 US states, according to the report, titled ISIS in America: From Retweets to Raqqa. Some 71 individuals have been charged in the US with Islamic State-related activities since March 2014 - 58 of them US citizens. [Should read: 'I-CIA-SIS in America: From Langley to Raqqa.']
California student pleads guilty to terrorism charge | 01 Dec 2015 | A former community college student, who allegedly discussed attacking the subway in Los Angeles, has pleaded guilty to a federal terrorism charge for trying to enter Canada so that he could eventually travel to the Mideast to help wage holy war, prosecutors said. Nicholas Teausant, 22, of Acampo, Calif., was charged with attempting to provide material support or resources to a foreign terrorist organization, according to Benjamin B. Wagner, the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of California in Sacramento. Teausant was arrested March 17, 2014, in Blaine, Wash., where he tried to cross into Canada, according to a 23-page affidavit.
#SueMeSaudi: Twitter responds to Saudi Arabia threats over ISIS comparison | 01 Dec 2015 | A growing number of people on Twitter have been telling [US ally] Saudi Arabia to go pound sand, since the kingdom threatened legal action over a tweet comparing their judicial practices to those of Islamic State. Neither the original tweet nor its author have been identified, but it purportedly called "ISIS-like" the Saudi decision to mete out a death sentence to Ashraf Fayadh, a 35-year-old Palestinian poet who has allegedly abandoned Islam. Under the form of Sharia law practiced in the Kingdom, apostasy is a crime punishable by beheading. "The justice ministry will sue the person who described...the sentencing of a man to death for apostasy as being 'ISIS-like,'" a Saudi justice ministry official told the pro-government daily Al-Riyadh, according to Reuters.
FBI to start tracking animal cruelty in 2016 | 30 Nov 2015 | The FBI will begin tracking cases of animal cruelty nationally in 2016, a move advocates hope will bring more attention to the crime among law enforcement agencies and underscore the link between animal abuse and other violent crimes. Until now, animal-related crimes have been reported into a catch-all category in the FBI's National Incident Based Reporting System. ..Starting in January, the FBI says, police departments will be required to report animal-related crimes to the national database. The FBI will categorize them as a "crime against society."
