Before the March Fundraiser - Please Read!
We had a big breakthrough in our February fundraiser. It wasn't the amount of money we raised. It was the speed with which we completed the drive.
The small victory in February was that we raised a little more money, $24,383, than we did in January, $22,879. The big victory was that it took "6 fewer days." That's huge.
Without any doubt had we kept the February drive going longer we would have raised more money. We chose not to do it. We chose to stick to our core philosophy, "incremental growth - shorter fundraisers."
The importance of shorter fundraisers cannot be overstated. The benefits to our mission, our community and our staff are stark. We are not here to raise money, we are here to challenge, head-on, rampant injustice.
We will need to raise enough money in March to fund the organization, but our focus is going to be on getting it done in a timely manner.
With the greatest respect.

Greenwald writes: "The off-the-record ritual can have only two possible purposes: One, candidates can lie to NYT editors in order to induce them to think more favorably about their candidacy, or, two, they can secretly and honestly acknowledge that their public statements made to voters are false but have the editors be bound by the off-the-record agreement not to alert the public. Either way, what journalistic value is provided by agreeing to conceal parts of the interview with a presidential candidate from the public?"

Perhaps the most powerful submission so far is a letter sent by Salihin Kondoker, whose wife is a survivor of the holiday party rampage that left 14 dead."
