Russian warship steams toward US destroyers that launched Syria strikes --The Russian warship is now steaming in the direction of the U.S. warships. | 07 April 2017 | A Russian warship has entered the eastern Mediterranean Sea Friday and is heading toward the two U.S. Navy destroyers that launched missile strikes into Syria, Fox News has learned. The Russian frigate, Admiral Grigorovich RFS-494, crossed through the Bosphorus Strait "a few hours ago" from the Black Sea, according to a U.S. defense official. The Admiral Grigorovich is armed with advanced Kalibr cruise missiles.
 
Gabbard: U.S. missile attack on Syria could lead to nuclear war with Russia | 06 April 2017 | Two members of Hawaii's congressional delegation condemned President Donald Trump's air strike on a Syrian air force base, with U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard invoking the possibility of nuclear war among the potential ramifications. In Syria early today (Thursday in Hawaii), U.S. cruise missiles rained down on the military base suspected to be the origin of a deadly chemical bomb air attack on Syrian civilians earlier this week.
 
Fight breaks out at Florida protest against Syria strikes; 6 arrested | 08 April 2017 |A fight broke out Friday in Florida during a protest against President Trump's decision to authorize an airstrike in Syria. The fight was caught on video during a live broadcast on Action News Jax, a local station in Jacksonville. It looked as though a couple of dozen protesters were gathered in downtown Jacksonville and protesters started shouting at each other. Police stepped in and arrested six.
 
Putin believes US attack on Syria violates international law - spokesman | 07 April 2017 | President Putin "regards the strikes as aggression against a sovereign nation," his spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, noting that the president believes the strikes were carried out "in violation of international law, and also under an invented pretext." Peskov also insisted that "the Syrian army doesn't have chemical weapons," saying this had been "observed and confirmed by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, a special UN unit." Putin sees the US missile strike on Syria as an attempt to distract attention from civilian casualties in Iraq, Peskov added.
 
Women and children among casualties of US missile strike - Homs governor | 07 April 2017 | The US strike on Shayrat Airbase in Syria killed 14 people including nine innocent civilians, the governor of Homs told RT. Speaking to RT Arabic, Talal al-Barazi said the majority of victims of the missile strike carried out by the United States on Friday morning had been local villagers. "Undoubtedly, the American attack on the Shayrat air force base was aimed at supporting terrorist groups and weakening the fighting capacity of the army of the Syrian Army, which is fighting the terrorists," Barazi told RT. "According to recent reports, the attack resulted in the deaths of five soldiers and nine civilians and the wounding of thirteen women and children who were in the nearby Shayrat village."
 
U.S. attack on Syrian base killed five, Homs governor says | 07 April 2017 | U.S. missile strike on an airbase near the Syrian city of Homs on Friday killed five people and wounded seven more, the Homs governor told the Lebanese TV station al-Mayadeen, saying he did not expect the casualty toll to rise by much. Homs Governor Talal Barazi, in separate remarks to Reuters, said the targeted airbase had been providing air support for army operations against Islamic State east of Palmyra, and the attack served the interests of "armed terrorist groups"...Barazi told al-Mayadeen there were civilian casualties at a village next to the base, but did not elaborate.

U.S. President Donald Trump said he had ordered missile strikes against a Syrian airfield from which a deadly chemical weapons attack was launched earlier this week, declaring he acted in America's "national security interest" against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
 
Terrorism suspect among 2 arrested in Stockholm truck attack - prosecutors | 08 April 2017 | Swedish police have arrested two men in connection with Friday's truck attack in Stockholm, which killed four people and injured 15. One of them is believed to be the driver of the truck, according to a police spokesman. The man, who was detained on Friday in a Stockholm suburb and subsequently arrested on suspicion of a terrorism-related crime, is believed to be the driver of the truck, according to Swedish police.
 
Stockholm terror attack: Man arrested 'claiming responsibility' after hijacked truck ploughs into pedestrians killing at least four | 07 April 2017 | At least four people are reported dead and many more injured after a terror attack that saw a hijacked lorry plough into pedestrians outside a Stockholm department store. A man was arrested in north Stockholm after he confessed to carrying out the truck attack, daily newspaper Aftonbladet reported. The man reportedly had some light injuries and said he was responsible for the attack. Police later confirmed one person had been arrested.

The moment was a triumph for President Trump, whose campaign appeal to reluctant Republicans last year rested in large part on his pledge to appoint another committed conservative to succeed Justice Antonin Scalia, who died in February 2016. The final tally was 54-45 in favor of confirmation.
