CounterCurrents: Ambedkar, Nationalism And The Emerging Crises In India, Kashmiri Youth Tied In Front Of Army Jeep As Human Shield

Dear Friend,

Today is the126th Birth Anniversary of Dr B.R Ambedkar one of the pricipal architects of the Indian constitution and the greatest champion of Dalit emancipation. On this occasion I've written an article taking a re-look at Ambedkar’s idea of nationalism in the face of virulent Hindutva nationalism in India, placing India in the global context.

If you don't mind, and if you think the content of this news letter is critical for the dignified living and survival of humanity and other species on earth, please forward it to your friends and spread the word. It's time for humanity to come together as one family! You can subscribe to our news letter here http://www.countercurrents.org/news-letter/.

Now Only Rational Thinking Can Save The World!
by Andre Vltchek

The West has brought the world to the brink of total collapse, but its citizens, even its intellectuals, are stubbornly refusing to grasp the urgency. Like ostriches, many are hiding their heads in the sand. Others are behaving like a surgeon who opts for treating a small cut on a finger of his patient who is actually dying from a terrible gunshot wound.

Pollutants From Adani Coal Mine Will Eventually Kill About 0.5 Million Indians
by Dr Gideon Polya

Under a climate criminal Coalition Government Australia is lurching towards an environmental and human catastrophe represented by the huge, Government-approved Adani Carmichael coal mine in the Galilee Basin of Queensland. Pollutants from burning Australian coal exported from the proposed Adani coal mine are  estimated to kill 13,000 people annually and 500,000 people over the lifetime of the coal mine. Most of the coal will go to India and thus most of the victims will be Indians.

Pompeo, Power And WikiLeaks
by Dr Binoy Kampmark

Assange also reminds readers of an old, proposed taxonomy on the issue of how the fourth estate might function in terms of accuracy and content with President Thomas Jefferson’s own proposal.  An editor might wish to “divide his paper into 4 chapters, heading the 1st, ‘Truths.’    2nd, ‘Probabilities.’  3rd, ‘Possibilities.’  4th, ‘Lies.’    The first chapter would be very short, as it would contain little more than authentic papers, and information.”

What Does An “America-First” Foreign Policy Actually Mean?
by William J Astore

What does an “America-first” foreign policy look like under President Donald Trump? As a start, forget the ancient label of “isolationism.”  With the end of Trump’s first 100 days approaching, it looks more like a military-first policy aimed at achieving global hegemony, which means it’s a potential doomsday machine.

How The Insurgencies In Middle East Are Not Terrorism?
by Nauman Sadiq

The definition of the term “terrorism” has been deliberately left undefined by the Western powers to use it as a catch-all pretext to justify their interventionist policy in the energy-rich Islamic countries. Depending on context, “terrorism” can mean two markedly distinct phenomena: that are, religious extremism or militancy.
