Fiery, head-on Toyota Tundra crash kills 4 in Montgomery County

A head-on collision has left four people dead and another four seriously injured in Montgomery County Tuesday evening.
Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman Erik Burse said four victims were killed at the scene, and four were seriously injured and transported to hospitals.
The two-vehicle crash on FM 3083 south of Jefferson Chemical Road occurred when a Toyota Tundra pickup going southeast crossed into oncoming traffic, striking a Chevy Tahoe traveling northwest on the road. The Tundra was traveling at a high rate of speed and was passing in a no-passing zone, witnesses told law enforcement.
The Toyota Tundra burst into flames, burning alive two adults in the car. A child in the car was removed by either EMS or witnesses before the car caught fire, Burse said.
Three people were removed from the Chevy Tahoe, officials believe, but they had already been transported for urgent care by the time law enforcement arrived on the scene. Three were taken by ground transportation to Memorial Hermann Hospital downtown and one was taken by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann-The Woodlands. All remain in serious condition and apparently are children.
"This is a preventable crash," Burse said. "This did not have to happen."
