[This was circulated when Jeff Sessions' confirmation hearings were underway, before he was caught lying about meeting with Russians.]
Earlier this week, Iraq War Veteran Jon Soltz sent an email outlining why Jeff Sessions should not be allowed to oversee enforcement of our nation's voting laws as the next Attorney General.
Here's another reason to oppose his nomination: as our nation's chief law enforcement officer, Attorney General Jeff Sessions would oversee the agency enforcing some of President-elect Trump's most odious threats, including Muslim registries and mass deportations.
Well, I served 15 months in Iraq. Will Jeff Sessions make me sign a Muslim registry? Will my cousins in the Marine Corps and NYPD be forced to add their names as well? Jeff Sessions racist past is disqualifying -- especially from the position of Attorney General. Add your name if you agree.
I never imagined I'd see the day the President-elect of the United States would call for banning all Muslims from coming to the United States, or that American Muslims would have to add their names to a registry.
But now that that day has arrived, I am going to fight like hell for the values that make this country great. Add your name to mine:
Thank you for standing with me in this fight.
