When Bob Woodward & Carl Bernstein teamed up to investigate the Watergate scandal that brought down the Nixon Administration, Washington Post editor Ben Bradlee gave them a joint name: “Woodstein.” As in, “WOODSTEIN! Get into my office!”
When Ro Khanna and Mark Pocan teamed up to end unconstitutional U.S. participation in the Saudi war in Yemen, House staffers dubbed them “ROCAN.” Because Ro + Pocan = ROCAN. Who can end the Yemen war? ROCAN can! How can we bring more media attention to the war? Let’s do another ROCAN letter! How can we force a vote on the House floor? Let’s do another ROCAN amendment!
In Washington DC, what matters is not what you know, but who you can get to say what you know. Nancy Pelosi doesn’t have much reason to care what Just Foreign Policy knows. But she has reason to care what Bernie Sanders and Ro Khanna say, because they have a Big Megaphone together. Let’s give this Big Megaphone a name. Let’s call it BernieRo.
BernieRo tweeted today about the crucial fact that Congress can end the Yemen war right now, this month, in the House-Senate negotiations on the “must pass,” “veto proof” NDAA that “funds the troops” by including the House-passed Adam Smith-Ro Khanna-Adam Schiff-Pramila Jayapal Yemen War Powers Amendment that would cut off U.S. participation in Saudi airstrikes in Yemen. We need many more Americans to know this crucial fact, the fact that Congress can end the war right now. We need widespread public knowledge of this crucial fact now in order to hold Nancy Pelosi accountable for the decision she is about to make on whether to end the war now or let it continue for another year.
SHARE BernieRo's tweet.
