MoJo: Sarah Palin Picks Imaginary Fight With Elizabeth Warren, Loses, •Ferguson Is 60 Percent Black. Virtually All Its Cops Are White

Sarah Palin Picks Imaginary Fight With Elizabeth Warren, Loses

By Andy Kroll

In a recent interview with the Atlantic, Hillary Clinton went to great lengths to separate herself from her former boss, President Obama, in the realm of foreign policy. She unabashedly defended Israel's actions in the ongoing war in Gaza, chalked up civilian casualties in that conflict to "the fog of war," drew a hard line on Iran, and argued that the "failure" of the Obama administration to arm Syrian rebel forces led to the rise of the Islamic State. Asked about the president's unofficial motto for foreign interventions—"Don't do stupid stuff"—Clinton did not mince words: "Great nations need organizing principles, and 'Don't do stupid stuff' is not an organizing principle."

Hillary's talking like a hawk again. Critics on the left and right have said she sounds more like Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), the grand old hawk of the GOP. How right they are. Can you guess who gave the following quotes—Clinton or McCain? [READ MORE]

On the heels of so many killings of young black men by police, protests have erupted in Ferguson, Missouri, a highly-segregated suburb of St. Louis, after a police officer fatally shot Michael Brown, an unarmed black teenager, this past weekend. The response from local police has been heavy-handed, with police firing tear gas and rubber bullets at protestors. Meanwhile, communities everywhere have been showing their support for the Ferguson protests. The hacktivist collective Anonymous hacked the Ferguson police and released dispatch tapes from the day of the shooting. Throughout it all, Missouri's governor has stayed under the radar.

Outside of Missouri, some scrappy ex-cops in Florida are transforming public defense, astrology helps expain partisan gridlock in Washington, and Texas is paying a discredited abortion researcher loads of cash. [READ MORE]

RSN: Eyewitness: 'Michael Brown Held Up Hands, Pled for Life Before Being Shot'

    Reader Supported News

*WE NEED TO TURN OUR FULL ATTENTION TO FUNDING: Regrettably, funding must take center stage. While the overall success of Reader Supported News is very encouraging, we have once again hit a dead spot on donations. The mathematics are strongly in our favor, we only need one out of every three hundred Readers who visit the site on a monthly basis to donate. Sounds easy but this month, after a promising start, the donations have tailed off badly. As a result, we are forced to turn our undivided attention to finishing this fundraiser as soon a possible. So please, if you are able, toss in a donation now would be a great time. Thank you sincerely in advance. / Marc Ash - Founder, Reader Supported News*
