CLG: 'US has always been main sponsor and creator of Islamic State' - former CIA contractor,

U.S. Military Is Building a $100 Million Drone Base in Africa | 29 Sept 2016 | Agadez, Niger, almost blends into the cocoa-colored wasteland that surrounds it. Only when you descend farther can you make out a city that curves around an airfield before fading into the desert...U.S. military documents reveal new information about an American drone base under construction on the outskirts of the city. The long-planned project - considered the most important U.S. military construction effort in Africa, according to formerly secret files obtained by The Intercept through the Freedom of Information Act - is slated to cost 100 million, and is just one of a number of recent American military initiatives in the impoverished nation.

Terrorists mull 'chemical attack' in Aleppo to frame Syrian govt - Russia's Defense Ministry| 29 Sept 2016 | Terrorist groups in Syria might use chemical weapons against civilians and the army in Aleppo in order to pin the blame for the atrocities on Damascus and further undermine the crumbling peace process in the war-torn country, the Russian Defense Ministry said. "It became known that terrorist groups are preparing provocative attacks with chemical weapons on Syrian army positions and residential areas in the east part of Aleppo to accuse government forces [of the attacks]," said Lt. Gen. Viktor Poznikhir, the first deputy chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the Russian General Staff. The warning echoed Syrian UN envoy Bashar Ja'afari's proclamations earlier this week, when he told the UN Security Council that militants from the hardline Ahrar Al-Sham Islamist group are planning to use white phosphorus in an attack on civilians in order to later blame it on Syrian armed forces.

'US has always been main sponsor and creator of Islamic State' - former CIA contractor | 29 Sept 2016 | The US claim that Russian troops will go home in body bags if Moscow doesn't end its Aleppo offensive is absurd, former CIA contractor Steven Kelley told RT. He said Russia is the only answer to defeating ISIS. When asked about State Department spokesperson John Kirby's warning that Russia "will continue to send troops home in body bags" if it doesn't put an end to the offensive, Kelley said Washington is pretending to be fighting Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL [but still I-CIA-SIS]) when it isn't doing so at all. "The US has always been the main sponsor and creator of Daesh (Arabic acronym for IS), so this charade that they are having anything to do with fighting Daesh in Syria is completely a farce, and I think the rest of the world is smart enough to realize that everything that comes out of the mouth of John Kirby or any of the State Department personnel is complete and utter balderdash," Kelley said. He advised Russian President Vladimir Putin to focus on "getting the job done," as Russia is the only way IS will be defeated in Syria.

ISIS may strike Europe with car bomb and chemical attacks, warns EU counter-terrorism chief | 27 Sept 2016 | Acknowledging that the terrorist threat in the EU has reached its peak in the last two decades, the EU Counter-Terrorism Coordinator warned the bloc's lawmakers that Europe could face new ISIS-coordinated attacks, possibly even involving chemical weapons. After a wave of bloody Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL [but still I-CIA-SIS]) terrorist attacks shook Europe in the summer, especially in France and Germany, Gilles de Kerchove warned members of the EU Parliament's Civil Liberties Committee that because of "multiplicity of the possible origins" of attacks, terrorism threat across the EU remains "very high." De Kerchove said that "at least six reasons" exist for keeping the alert level at its highest level in the last 20 years.

US Congress overrides Obama's veto of Saudi 9/11 victim bill | 29 Sept 3016 | Congress on Wednesday overwhelmingly rejected President Barack Obama's veto of legislation allowing relatives of the victims of the Sept. 11 attacks to sue Saudi Arabia, the first veto override of his presidency, just four months before it ends. The House of Representatives voted 348-77 against the bill, hours after the Senate rejected it 97-1, meaning the "Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act" will become law...Support was fueled by impatience in Congress with Saudi Arabia [aka ISIS on steroids] over its human rights record, promotion of a severe form of Islam tied to militancy and failure to do more to ease the international refugee crisis.

Senate votes 97 to 1 to override Obama's 9/11 bill veto --Vote is first override of Saudi-influenced Obama administration --Useless eater Harry Reid is only 'no' vote | 28 Sept 2016 | The US Senate voted to override President Barack Obama's veto of the bill that would allow Americans to potentially sue Saudi Arabia for 9/11. This is the first veto override during the Obama presidency. Obama vetoed the bill last week, explaining that the "Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act" (JASTA) would erode the doctrine of sovereign immunity and expose the US to lawsuits around the world. JASTA, which passed unanimously in both the House and the Senate, allows US judges to waive sovereign immunity claims when dealing with acts of terrorism committed on American soil - potentially allowing lawsuits against Saudi Arabia over the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. [Odd how Obama doesn't give a d-mn about 'US sovereignty' while pushing his TPP corporate takeover.]

615 More Troops Heading to Iraq - U.S. Officials | 28 Sept 2016 | The Department of Defense is preparing to dispatch 615 more U.S. troops to Iraq to help government forces oust ISIS [I-CIA-SIS] from the city of Mosul, the White House announced Wednesday. The soldiers will provide logistics support for the Iraqi forces and not spearhead the attack, White House press secretary Josh Earnest told reporters on Wednesday. The troops, who will deploy in the coming weeks, will have a supporting role, helping with logistics and providing advice...Currently there are 4,647 U.S. soldiers in Iraq.

An official announcement of the death of the Nobel Peace laureate and former prime minister was expected at around 7 a.m. local time (04:00 GMT).

FBI Director James Comey: 'Don't call us weasels' | 28 Sept 2016 | FBI Director James Comey's agents aren't weasels, he told lawmakers Wednesday. Comey was defending his agency's actions regarding a federal probe into Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server while she was secretary of state. The investigation drew criticism from Republicans for not recommending charges against the Democratic presidential nominee. "You can call us wrong, but don't call us weasels," he told the House Judiciary Committee. "We are not weasels, we are honest people and we did this in that way."

Senators Press FBI Director on Response to Terrorism Threat | 27 Sept 2016 | Republican senators pressed FBI Director James Comey on Tuesday about whether anything more could have been done to prevent recent acts of extremist violence, including the Orlando nightclub massacre and the Manhattan bombing this month...The questions arose because the FBI has said it investigated Orlando gunman Omar Mateen a few years before the June shooting and interviewed him as part of that probe. The FBI in 2014 also looked into Ahmad Khan Rahami, the Afghan-born U.S. citizen accused in the explosion, but found nothing that tied him to terrorism. Two senators, in particular, Rand Paul of Kentucky and Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire, said they were alarmed that both individuals had at one point been on the FBI's radar but were [allegedly] not intercepted.

Mayors say state ordered them to keep Zika mosquito sites secret | 25 Sept 2016 | The mayors of Miami-Dade County and Miami Beach on Sunday accused the Florida Department of Health of lying after the state agency said last week that it never told local officials to hide the locations in Miami Beach where mosquitoes carrying the Zika virus were captured. Florida's health department strongly denied instructing local officials to keep the information confidential - and said the decision was entirely up to Miami-Dade - after the Miami Herald reported on Friday that a county attorney said the state agency had ordered them to keep it a secret. The statement was made during a court hearing for the Miami Herald's lawsuit against Miami-Dade seeking the locations of traps in Miami Beach where mosquitoes carrying the Zika virus were captured this month.

Clinton misrepresents stance on Trans Pacific Partnership 'trade' deal | 26 Sept 2016 | HILLARY CLINTON, denying Donald Trump's accusation that she called the Trans-Pacific Partnership the "gold standard" of trade [sic] agreements: "I did say I hoped it would be a good deal." THE FACTS: Trump is correct. As secretary of state, Clinton called the deal that was taking shape the "gold standard" of trade agreements, in a 2012 trip to Australia, and championed the agreement in other venues around the world...Clinton flip-flopped into opposing the trade deal in the Democratic primary when facing Bernie Sanders, who was strongly opposed to it.

Miss Universe Alicia Machado accused of threatening to kill judge in late '90s | 28 Aug 2016 |It turns out 1996 Miss Universe winner Alicia Machado, cited by Hillary Clinton in the first presidential debate as an example of Donald Trump's mistreatment of women [LOL!], has a complicated past. Shortly after she won her crown in the late '90s, a judge in Venezuela accused Machado of threatening to kill him after he indicted her then-boyfriend for attempted murder. Machado threatened "to ruin my career as a judge and...kill me,'' Judge Maximiliano Fuenmayor said at the time.

Alicia Machado was named by Hillary Clinton as having been shamed for her weight in 1996 by Donald Trump, when she was Miss Universe and he bought the beauty contest...But now two Associated Press reports from 1998 have revealed the Machado was accused of aiding attempted murder and threats to kill in Venezuela. DailyMail.com has asked the Clinton campaign whether they knew about the accusations, which do not appear to have ended in conviction, before the candidate spoke about her at the debate.

Some allegations against the NBC moderator included that he frequently interrupted Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and went easy on Clinton. In an infographic, Vox dot com noted Trump was interrupted by Holt when he was speaking 30 times and he stopped Clinton only 19 times.

Debates to help half of U.S. voters decide between Clinton, Trump - poll | 26 Sept 2016 | Half of America's likely voters will rely on the presidential debates to help them make their choice between Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton in the Nov. 8 election, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Monday. The results show the stakes for the White House rivals as they prepare to face off on Monday at Hofstra University in Long Island, New York, for their first of three one-on-one debates, a prime-time TV spectacle expected to draw a Super Bowl-sized audience of 100 million Americans. Some 50 percent of likely voters think the debates will help inform their decision of whom to support, including 10 percent who say they are not currently leaning either way, according to the opinion poll.

Trump has laid out a hardline position on illegal immigration, proposing to build a wall along the U.S. southern border with Mexico and take other steps to crack down on the flow of undocumented people crossing into the United States. With immigration likely to be discussed at the debate, the National Immigration and Customs Enforcement Council, a union representing 5,000 federal immigration officers and law enforcement support staff, announced it would support Trump, in what was described as its first endorsement of a candidate for elected office.

Clinton's position changed from totally ignoring nuclear power in her 2016 platform to a tepid embrace of the technology...Clinton's new found position on nuclear power puts her at odds with the anti-nuclear environmental movement, including The Sierra Club, the Natural Resources Defense Council, 350.org, and the Union of Concerned Scientists.

Johnson was a guest at a live town hall on MSNBC's Hardball with Chris Matthews, who asked him to name his favorite world leader. And the ex-governor of New Mexico failed to name a single leader he respects from any country on the planet. Johnson admitted to having 'brain freeze' and even tried to avoid the question by mentioning his gaffe from earlier this month. [Pea-brain Gary Johnson advocates mandatory vaccines. Ergo, he is no libertarian. (Hillary Clinton has spoken in support of mandating vaccination. Donald Trump has asserted on Twitter that vaccines have in 'many' cases caused autism [and other side effects, including death].) Johnson is just another corporatist dirt-bag inserted into the rigged race. --LRP]

American helicopters drop boxes of weapons in ISIL-held areas in Iraq; US previously airdropped weapons captured by ISIL in Syria 27 Dec 2014 Volunteer forces fighting against the ISIL Takfiri terrorists say US military aircraft have dropped weapons in areas held by the terrorist group in Iraq. American helicopters dropped boxes of weapons in Yathrib and Balad districts in Iraq's Salahuddin Province, according to the fighters. There is also some electronic equipment and other supplies at the depot, located at Kuwait's Shuaiba port, defense officials say.

A preliminary investigation into "ghost soldiers" -- whose salaries are being drawn but who are not in military service -- revealed the tens of thousands of false names on Defense Ministry rolls, Abadi told parliament Sunday...The Pentagon has requested 1.2 billion to train and equip the Iraqi army next year. The United States spent more than 20 billion on the force from the 2003 invasion until U.S. troops withdrew at the end of 2011.

Obama Administration Says U.S. Is 'At War' With ISIS 12 Sept 2014 The Obama administration said for the first time Friday that the United States is "at war" with ISIS militants. Josh Earnest, the White House press secretary, used the language at least three times during his daily briefing with reporters. "The U.S. is at war with ISIL in the same way the U.S. is at war with al-Qaeda," he said, using an alternate acronym for the group. Minutes earlier, a Pentagon spokesman, Rear Adm. John Kirby, used similar terminology. [CLG's 'alternate acronym' for the group: I-CIA-SIS.]

Number of ISIS fighters has swelled to as many as 31,500, CIA says [They should know.] 12 Sept 2014 The CIA said Thursday that the number of Islamic State fighters has grown to as many as three times previous estimates, a day after President Obama announced he is drastically expanding the U.S. military campaign against the militants. A spokesperson for the agency told Fox News that new assessments show that the militant group can muster between 20,000 and 31,500 fighters across Iraq and Syria. The spokesperson said the new figures were 'determined' after a review of "all-source intelligence reports" on the group from May to August.

Obama authorizes military strikes against ISIS leadership 11 Sept 2014 President Obama has authorized the Pentagon to target and kill leaders of the Islamic State militant group, with the organization's head Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi being at the top of the administration's list. U.S. military officials confirmed to Fox News Thursday that Obama had approved the strikes against individual targets for the first time. White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said in a press briefing Thursday that the president is "actively engaged" in selecting possible Islamic State targets that are "available."

Pressure mounts for U.S. ground troops in Iraq 12 Sept 2014 U.S. lawmakers have already begun pressing President Barack Obama to deploy U.S. troops in Iraq to lead the ground attack against the Islamic State terror army. Many lawmakers claim Obama has underestimated the militant group's threat and power, which appear to be expanding daily. The CIA has raised its estimate of the size of Islamic State forces to 20,000 to 31,500, from about 10,000.

Syria airstrikes need boots on the ground, AF officer says 11 Sept 2014 U.S. special operations forces will be needed on the ground in Syria to make the expanded air war President Obama has ordered there more effective, a senior Air Force commander told USA TODAY. The spy planes flying missions over Iraq and Syria can develop a list of potential Islamic State targets, said the commander who spoke on condition of anonymity to describe what the war might look like. But it's "absolutely crucial that pilots are talking to an American on the ground" who can verify that the target is legitimate.

Assad, Moscow and Tehran condemn Obama's plan for air strikes against Isis 11 Sept 2014 The Syrian government and its close allies in Moscow and Tehran warned Barack Obama that an offensive against Islamic State (Isis) within Syria would violate international law yesterday, hours after the US president announced that he was authorising an open-ended campaign of air strikes against militants on both sides of the border with Iraq. Russia said it would not support any military action without a UN resolution authorising it...In Damascus, the Assad government warned against US raids.

The American fear-mongering machine is about to scare us back into war again --Thanks to a say-anything media, hawkish politicians and an Orwellian administration, a war-weary public is terrified. 10 Sept 2014 The White House declared on Tuesday night that it needn’t bother to ask Congress for war powers, and Congress is more than happy to relieve itself of the responsibility of asking for them – or, you know, voting. Members of both parties have actually been telling the president to ignore the legislative branch entirely – as well as his constitutional and legal requirements. It seems so long ago now that presidential candidate Obama said, "The President does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation."

Judge says U.S. doesn't have to reveal cost of Guantanamo's secret Camp 7 --Camp 7 is secret prison facility at Guantanamo where 15 former [tortured] CIA captives called 'high value detainees' are held 11 Sept 2014 A federal judge agreed Thursday that the Pentagon does not have to reveal how much was paid to build the crumbling, secret Camp 7 at the Guantanamo Bay Detention Center, rejecting a Miami Herald bid to make the number public. U.S. District Judge Berryl Howell in Washington, D.C., said that the document that contained the figure had been properly classified and denied a request from The Herald's Carol Rosenberg that it be made public. In a making her decision, Howell relied on a secret filing from the Defense Department that neither Rosenberg nor her attorneys were allowed to see.

U.S., EU hit Russia with more sanctions despite Ukraine ceasefire 12 Sept 2014 The United States and European Union imposed new sanctions against Russia on Friday, tightening financial measures against Moscow over its intervention in Ukraine despite a week-old ceasefire which has brought calm to the embattled east. President Vladimir Putin called the new sanctions "a bit strange" given the truce, part of a peace deal reached last week between Kiev and pro-Russian rebels...Moscow has already responded to sanctions by banning the import of most Western food. It said it could take further measures and might appeal to the World Trade Organization.

Russia's second Ukraine aid convoy of 200 trucks crosses border 13 Sept 2014 All 200 trucks in Russia's 2nd convoy carrying long-awaited humanitarian aid for devastated areas of eastern Ukraine have crossed the border after weeks of delays that occurred despite an agreement on relief corridors in the Minsk ceasefire deal. The trucks started passing through Russia's 'Donetsk' checkpoint into the buffer zone shortly before midnight on Friday.

"Consequently the government today is raising the public alert level to high."

In a blog post, the company said the 1,500 pages of once-secret documents shine further light on Yahoo previously disclosed clashed with the NSA over access to its users' data. The papers outline Yahoo's secret and ultimately unsuccessful legal battle to resist the government's demands for the tech firm to cooperate with the NSA's controversial Prism surveillance program, revealed by whistleblower Edward Snowden last year.

Assange Swedish arrest warrant upheld 12 Sept 2014 Lawyers for WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange on Friday appealed a decision by a Swedish court to uphold an arrest warrant issued for him. The defence argued that the warrant issued in November 2010 should be repealed on the grounds that the prosecutor has failed to act in a timely manner, violating Assange's rights. The defence is seeking to overturn a July decision by a Stockholm District Court judge that the warrant should remain in place for Assange, 43, who has lived for the past two years in the Ecuadorean embassy in London to avoid extradition.

Texas Textbook Battle Heats Up With Claims of Conservative Bias 11 Sept 2014 Another battle could be brewing over Texas textbooks, this time because scholars say the proposed lessons distort history. New social studies books, on which the Texas State Board of Education is set to vote in November, promote pro-Christian religious and conservative political biases, according to a report released Wednesday from the nonprofit Texas Freedom Network Education Fund. History scholars argue in the report that a number of the books under consideration contain misleading information on topics like America's founding and world religions.

30 homes near California fire ordered evacuated 12 Sept 2014 Officials ordered people in about 30 homes to evacuate Friday evening as a wildfire roared through a canyon in Southern California's Cleveland National Forest. The homes were at the bottom of Silverado Canyon, where a fire that erupted earlier in the day had burned through 2 square miles of drought-dried brush in the midst of a heat wave. No residences were immediately threatened, and the evacuation was precautionary, fire officials said.

Perhaps in a remote forest or woodland? Nah, if you're a Florida bonneted bat, you're going to Miami. And just like thousands of snowbirds that flock to the city on Biscayne Bay, you like to hang out at the golf course.
