Arizona’s Welfare Drug Testing Screened 140,000- And Found 3 Positive Cases

This saved the state around $3500 from going into the hands of “drug addicts” – out of $45 million distributed through the Temporary Assistance For Needy Families program.

Collectively, seven states have spent a $1 million on drug testing their welfare recipients- and together have netted under 500 positive cases. Virginia just abandoned plans to test their citizens after realizing it would cost $1.5 million and save only $229,000. It’s a disgraceful waste of taxpayer dollars in an insulting and presumptuous program that the date shows only serves to give credibility to the anti-poor narrative that FOX News pundits love to talk up so much.

Another colossal Republican waste of taxpayer money.
An essential part of the Republican Party's war against America's poor has been to drug-test welfare recipients, as part of their relentless campaign to paint the...

The recent report released by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agencyon the impacts of hydraulic fracturing on drinking water is incomplete and lacks integrity. Not only was most of the data used in the report provided by the oil and gas industry, corporations with vested financial interests in fracking also prevented the EPA from conducting studies necessary to determine fracking impacts.

For years, oil and gas corporations have been degrading our cherished public lands with the destructive oil and gas drilling method known as fracking. This has seriously impacted our public lands and groundwater, and areas buffering...

Kinda fun watching Trump's cheese-ball glitz empire crumble around him.

Sure, he's gotten a bump in the Goposaur Clown Car Kontest, but when that subsides (and it will), all he will have left is his racism and that weird thing on his head.

Gov. Ricketts is a hypocrite. He says nothing about real threats to farms and ranches like fracking waste from CO and toxic tarsands blended with benzene from Canada.
Instead, he chooses to protect Big Biz and oppose a rule that farms and ranches are EXEMPT from. The Farm Bureau, Platte Institute (funded by Ricketts) and other groups telling farmers they need to get permits to do normal Ag activities are LYING to them and it is shameful.
As the EPA says: Activities like plan...

A day after his national health care law was cemented, America's first black president celebrated marriage equality nationwide.
Watching the striking new video is practically an antidote to cynicism.
Watching this president discuss this ruling from this location served as a striking reminder about the extraordinary circumstances we find ourselves in.
MSNBC.COM

This week’s hero is Justice Anthony Kennedy, whose opinions in three key Supreme Court cases – upholding the Affordable Care Act, ruling that the Fair Housing Act of 1968 bars housing polices having a discriminatory effect regardless of intent, and finding that the Constitution allows gays and lesbians to marry – advanced the cause of social justice in America.
It’s easy to forget this is the same Anthony Kennedy who provided the deciding votes both to gut the Voting Rights Act of 1965, opening the door to voter suppression, and to give corporations a First Amendment right to spend as much on politics as they wish, thereby allowing big money to inundate American politics. Kennedy’s opinions this week, as wise and thoughtful as they are, don’t begin to compensate for the profound damage he and his four Republican brethren on the Court have done to our democracy.
What do you think?

Of all the crazy, outrageous responses to yesterday's ruling, this is definitely one of the best.
