In Leaked Tape Mitch McConnell Admits The Koch Brothers Are Running The Republican Party, Republicans Rebel As Mitch McConnell's Decision To Block SCOTUS Nominee Backfires, et al

Brandon Weber
Quote from Robert Kennedy, really spot-on for today.

Please get out an VOTE! The oligarchy wants you passive and take what you are given!

A man dies and goes to heaven
In heaven, he sees a wall of very large clocks.
He asks the Angel "What are all these clocks for?"
Angel answers "These are lie clocks, every person has one lie clock. Whenever you lie on earth, the clock ticks once."
The man points towards a clock and asks, "Who's clock does this belong to?"
Angel answers 'This clock belongs to Mother Teresa. It has never moved, so she has never told a lie."
then the man asks "Where is Hillary Clintons clock?"
The Angel replies "That one is in our office, we use it as a table fan."

In Leaked Tape Mitch McConnell Admits The Koch Brothers Are Running The Republican Party

In a leaked audio tape of the Koch brothers top secret June 2014 retreat, Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) not only admitted that the Republicans would be lost without the Kochs, and revealed who the real power is in the GOP.
Audio:

McConnell opened his remarks by saying, “Is this working? I know it’s been a long, but very inspiring day. And I want to start by thanking you, Charles and David for the important work you’re doing. I don’t know where we’d be without you, and um, and I want (inaudible) for rallying, uh, to the cause.”
Mitch McConnell has voted against raising the minimum wage 17 times in his career. He has filibustered every recent attempt to raise the minimum wage in the current Congress, so anyone with half a brain should not be surprised that he promised that he wouldn’t raise the mininum wage if he becomes Majority Leader.
The main topic of his speech was Citizens United, and how the wealthy and corporations should control our elections. In the process of praising Citizens United, McConnell described how the Koch infested Supreme Court has opened the door to conservative billionaires buying the government, “And we’ve had a series of cases since then that I’ve filed amicus briefs in and had lawyers arguing in. We now have, I think, the most free and open system we’ve had in modern times. The Supreme Court allowed all of you to participate in the process in a variety of different ways. You can give to the candidate of your choice. You can give to Americans for Prosperity, or something else, a variety of different ways to push back against the party of government. It has nothing to do with overly political speech.”
The little part at the end where McConnell states that the billionaire dollars have nothing to do with overt political speech was a total lie. The Koch money is about buying and electing the candidates who will carry out the conservative billionaire agenda.
Everything links together. Without the Koch infested Supreme Court, the Republican billionaire funding pipeline wouldn’t exist. The Koch billionaire group is trying to cut the people out of the democratic process in order to create a government that revolves around their own interests.
The leaked tapes prove that the Republican Party revolves around the interests of billionaires and big corporations. This is obvious to anyone who watches their behavior on a daily basis, but McConnell’s remarks are the first leaked to the public admission of the importance of the Koch brothers to the success of the Republican Party.
The GOP is a Koch organized and funded operation. The Kochs set the agenda, and if Republicans take back the Senate, the American people will have given control of the Congress to the Koch brothers.

Republicans Rebel As Mitch McConnell’s Decision To Block SCOTUS Nominee Backfires

Faced with angry voters who want them to do their jobs, the jobs the voters are paying them to do, which includes as a basic confirming Supreme Court nominees, Republicans are at a loss as to justify and sell McConnell's big lie.
As Walter Scott said long before the current Republican party set about proving him right, “Oh, what a tangled web we weave…when first we practice to deceive.”
And so we drop smack dab into the middle of one of the Republican party’s current troubles, in between their likely nomination of Donald Trump and the fact that they can’t get a budget together… again. This trouble is in the Senate and it stems from Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s (R-KY) inability to change course when he first realized his obstruct Obama all of the time strategy was backfiring, and in fact leading to Donald Trump.
McConnell has dumped his Republican Senators in the middle of his big lie about how there is no need to even hold a hearing for this incorrectly and offensively implied “illegitimate” President’s Supreme Court nominee. Faced with angry voters who want them to do their jobs, the jobs the voters are paying them to do, which includes as a basic confirming Supreme Court nominees, Republicans are at a loss as to justify and sell McConnell’s big lie.
A rebellion is brewing in the Senate. A few tidbits from a round-up sent by Senator Harry Reid’s office:
Former NRSC Chairman Jerry Moran (R-KS): “That decision has already been made,” Moran told the NLJ on Monday. “If the president nominates somebody, I’ll consider them by my constitutional responsibilities, but it’s my understanding there will be no hearings, there will be no meetings.”

Senate Republican Conference Vice Chairman Roy Blunt (R-MO): “I certainly wouldn’t mind voting on the nominee that the President has.”
Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI): “I’m not in charge of the process.”

Republican Senator to the Hill: “What’s the Point of Falling On Our Swords”

Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT)
SMERCONISH: It’s frustrating because I say, you know, there’s got to be more respect shown for the office than to say we don’t care who you send us.
HATCH: Well, you’re saying that we got to accept anybody this president sends up —
SMERCONISH: No, I’m not. No, I’m not. I’m saying have the dignity to welcome —
HATCH: Yes, you are, you’re saying —
SMERCONISH: — the person into your office and hear them out.
HATCH: I would if we haven’t made the decision that we shouldn’t play a game here and let them know where we are and we’re going to put it over until next year.

Former Republican Leader Trent Lott (R-MS):  “I probably would’ve handled it differently,” Lott told CNN senior political commentator David Axelrod on “The Axe Files” podcast, produced by CNN and the University of Chicago Institute of Politics. “My attitude, particularly on the Supreme Court, was that elections do have consequences, sometimes bad, and I tried to lean towards being supportive of the President’s nominees, Democrat or Republican.” “If they were qualified by education, experience, and demeanor and had no other side problem, my predisposition was to be for them,” added the Mississippi Republican, who led the Senate from 1996 to 2001.
This will be even harder to defend when/if Donald Trump wins tonight in the Ides of March Super Super Tuesday, because then it will be obvious that Republicans will not be picking the next SCOTUS nominee. They will not even be in the majority in the Senate anymore and thus will have even less of a say… As I wrote on day one of this epic disaster of a “strategery”.
The problem is that Republicans are refusing to do their jobs and changing the rules for no reason. They are not being obstructed, they are obstructing the President in a naked power grab from the legislative brach. Republicans used to stand for law and order but now, not so much. Now they are about chaos and disrespect. They are about Donald Trump and they are proving this in the Senate. Donald Trump is not an anomaly. He is the GOP.
Republicans have been obstructing Obama because they thought they would get to pick the next SCOTUS. Whatever gave them that idea based on the cage match style debates they’ve been having or their polls is anyone’s guess. But now that Donald Trump is running away with the Republican nomination, it’s obvious to anyone with more than a single cell working, that Republicans will not be making the next SCOTUS nomination. Now they are nervous because they fear Hillary Clinton’s choice, they would rather be stuck with Obama’s choice than Hillary’s.
Republicans will be lucky if they don’t lose the House that they thought they had gerrymandered into safety for the next decade. What can we say, except “You built that.”

Were ya even paying attention?
Or just nodding to Republican Horse Manure?

Republicans said Putin was playing chess to Obama's checkers. They had it backwards -- it's Obama who made all the right moves.
"while Republicans run to the Sunday shows to announce that Putin is playing chess to Obama’s checkers, Obama is helping scuttle Russia’s warship deal. All the while, Putin is increasingly isolated, leading a country with a collapsing economy and neighbors eager to strengthen alliances with the West.
And as the price of oil continues to fall, Russia’s problems are likely to get worse before they get better.
I’ll be eager to hear all the apologies from GOP politicians who spent the year heralding Putin as the strategic mastermind the United States needs in the White House"

ARE YOU KIDDING? As countries around the world gather in Lima, Peru this week for UN climate talks, there are some who are threatening to derail the progress. Is it oil-rich Saudi Arabia? Unpredictable North Korea? Nope. It's our very own Senate leadership. http://ejus.tc/1vZSs30
Incoming Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell, has promised that crippling the EPA would be his first priority - not tackling unemployment, health care, or national security. In fact, when the US and China announced their historic, game-changing deal to reduce carbon pollution, McConnell said he was "particularly distressed," even though he had previously used China's inaction as an excuse for the US not to tackle climate change. It seems when you've gotten $3.6 million in political contributions from the fossil fuel industry, hypocrisy is not something to worry about.
