JOKER'S owners couldn't have cared less the day they dumped him in a kill shelter to die..They wer...e moving and could not keep him. HE HAD A HEAVY LOCK ON HIS COLLAR TO MAKE HIS NECK STRONG????? OMG MONSTERS!!!!!!! . They walked away without so much as a tear in their eye... Joker is housebroken, good with kids but is aggressive toward cats. He didn't live with other dogs so we don't know how he will be in a home with a dog. At the shelter, he is friendly with them. Joker has a gentle soul, but he hates being at the shelter and is very stressed! He can look intimidating in his kennel and then you realize how soft and gentle he is...HE JUST DOESN'T KNOW WHY HIS OWNERS TOOK HIM ON A RIDE AND LEFT HIM THERE?????? The cage aggression he displays is concerning when you are on the other side of the door. However, when you get him out, he is a darling!!!!! THE CAGE IS KILLING HIS SOUL AND HAS ALREADY BROKEN HIS SPIRIT..... If you can help Joker through rescue, adoption, or fostering, please contact Daviess County Animal Control in OWENSBORO, KY at 270-685-8275 or send e-mail to dcacanimals@yahoo.com. HURRY PLEASE!!!!!!!! LAST DAY TO LIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE SAVE SWEET OREO!!!!!!!!
Beagle of the Day: GIDGET!
Gender: Female
Approximate Age: 5 years 6 months
Status: Available
... About Gidget:
Gidget is a small, 5 1/2 year old female beagle. She is energetic and curious. She walks well on a leash and responds to basic commands (sit, down, come, stay, lay, high five). She is learning not to jump up to get food or treats and is making good progress. She likes to meet all people and does great with small kids. Gidget gets very excited and barks at cats so she probably shouldn't go to a home with cats.
Gidget would love to spend time with her future humans by snuggling with them on the couch and even in their bed at night. She currently sleeps in her own bed by her foster parent's bed. She is doing great on house training and knows she needs to go outside to go potty. She can go through the night without going out but needs to go out first thing in the morning. She sits at the door to tell you she wants to go outside.
Gidget has separation anxiety and cannot be crated. She has made progress with her anxiety with natural medication, but barks loudly when her foster parent leaves the house or when she sees an unknown dog from far away.See More

China was surrendered by her family and is concerned about her change in circumstances. She's a gorgeous girl who lived with one adult and one child, appears to have been well fed as her weight is perfect for her size, and her coat has a nice sheen to it. China is a bit shy, but happy to be going out for a walk to make new friends. Her leash manners are good and she's social and friendly. She was happy to place part of her body in my lap for some snuggles and love, giving me little kisses. When I stopped to talk to some people, she sat by my side, waiting patiently for me to finish my conversation. She's beautifully photogenic, but was not happy being tethered for photos. We're told that she lived with other dogs and likes to play, is friendly to all, and knows 'sit', 'down', 'shake' and 'stay'. Her former owner was asked if China had any behavior problems and we were told that she 'plays a lot'. I'm not sure I would call that a behavior problem! China is a young girl who needs exercise and stimulation and is looking for a family who can provide for her needs. In return you will have unconditional love from a sweetheart of a little girl. Ask to meet our China today!!

Jackie needs a foster home starting now until the 18th. We have another foster home who can take her when they get back from vacation, but we don't want her to go into boarding until then. Can anyone foster this sweet girl? She needs a home without kitties. Email info@orphanannierescue.org if you can give her a place to rest for a week or so.
Jackie is located in Atlanta, GA. Foster homes need to be somewhat local to Atlanta.
Jackie is a lab/hound mix. She is medium sized and active. She gets along well with all people and loves to play. She is super sweet. She is looking for a home without cats.
Looks like Cookie got the front seat:)

What a selfless and wonderful thing this woman did for this sweet dying dog by adopting her in her final hours to give her a loving send off over the Rainbow Bridge.
A woman named Lisa Jo Lucas in North Carolina heard about a shelter dog named Angel who was suffering from breast cancer and was in the final stages of her life
.... Instead of leaving Angel to die alone at the shelter, Lucas adopted Angel and gave her one last special night before she was euthanized the next day. Read more from The Wilson Times:
"Nobody knows Angel’s past or how she got there by herself, but I have always had a tender spot for dogs and cats, the seniors especially,” said Lucas, who owns Lisa Jo’s DoggieTown, a grooming and day care business on Ward Boulevard in Wilson.
Lucas knew the dog she dubbed Angel had a grim prognosis. She made an appointment to have her euthanized, and she filled Angel’s final hours with companionship and comfort. "It was her last night here on Earth,” Lucas said. “I wanted it to be special.” Lucas placed blankets on the floor of the then-vacant office next door to DoggieTown, which she rented to expand her pet day care. Easy-listening music played as Lucas stroked Angel’s fur. "I made her a bed and I made me a bed,” Lucas recalled. “She slept. I slept a couple hours, believe it or not.” The next morning, Lucas brought Angel to Dr. Carrie Raymond at the Wilson Veterinary Hospital. "We prayed over her, and it was the most beautiful, peaceful thing,” Lucas said. “I just kissed her nose when Dr. Raymond gave her that shot. As she was leaving us, I could almost see her running over that rainbow bridge. She was free of that cancer.” Though Angel was in her life a short time, the dog has a permanent place in Lucas’s heart. She keeps Angel’s ashes in a wooden box and the dog’s paw print on a plaster disc at DoggieTown.
Thanks to Lucas, Angel was able to enjoy a few moments of warmth before passing on. Beautiful story. Click here for the full article.

SHARE TO SAVE GLACIER
http://hendrickboards.com/s/save-glacier
Glacier was picked up by our local animal control and rather than hold him for their normal 5 day hold time (which he wouldn’t have survived) they called Partners 4 Pets to help save him. He was rushed immediately to their vet (where they spent $5,000 last week alone) covered in maggots and ticks. The vet and techs worked on him for hours shaving him and getting the ticks and maggots off. On top of the neglect that caused ticks and maggots to infest his skin, his dewclaw had grown into the pad of his foot.
