Thousands of vials of deadly SARS virus 'go missing' in
France [No worries.
The US will 'find' them.] 15 Apr 2014 More than 2,300 tubes containing
samples of the potentially deadly SARS virus have gone "missing" from a
high-security laboratory at the Pasteur Institute in Paris. The research body

to resolve the mysterious disappearance. During a recent inventory, researchers
at the Pasteur Institute discovered they had lost some 2,349 vials containing
samples of the SARS virus.

NATO is strengthening its military presence in the Baltic and Mediterranean due

and intensified aerial patrols in the region. At a meeting of the Euro-Atlantic
Partnership Council in Brussels, NATO approved a number of measures to

borders 16 Apr 2014 Nato has

Thursday in Geneva. The EU and the US intend to tighten sanctions against Moscow
after the four-party negotiations -- involving foreign ministers from Russia,
Ukraine and the US and the EU foreign policy chief, Catherine Ashton -- if
Moscow does not stop what the West alleges is the deliberating stoking of
tensions in eastern Ukraine.

custody near the Boston Marathon finish line late Tuesday, the anniversary of
the deadly pressure cooker bombings, had a rice cooker in his backpack and was
being charged with possession of a hoax device, police said. The man was stopped

NYPD disbands controversial Muslim surveillance
unit --'Dragnet
policing' by demographics unit had damaged police relations with
community 15 Apr 2014 A special New York police department unit that
sparked controversy by tracking the daily lives of Muslims in an effort to
detect terror threats has been disbanded, police officials said on Tuesday.
Stephen Davis, a spokesman for the NYPD, confirmed that detectives assigned to
the unit had been transferred to other duties within the department's
intelligence division. The NYPD's demographics unit assembled databases on where
Muslims lived, shopped, worked and prayed. Plainclothes officers infiltrated
Muslim student groups, put informants in mosques, monitored sermons and
catalogued Muslims in New York who adopted Americanised
surnames.
New York Drops Unit That Spied Among
Muslims 15 Apr 2014 The New York
Police Department has abandoned a secretive program that dispatched plainclothes
detectives into Muslim neighborhoods to eavesdrop on conversations and built
detailed files on where people ate, prayed and shopped, the department said. The
decision by the nation's largest police force to shutter the controversial
surveillance program represents the first sign that William J. Bratton, the
department's new commissioner, is backing away from some of the post-9/11
intelligence-gathering practices of his predecessor.

Russia will not import GMO products, will grow organic food -
PM Medvedev 07 Apr 2014 Russia will
not import GMO products, the country's Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said,
adding that the nation has enough space and resources to produce organic food.
Moscow has no reason to encourage the production of genetically modified
products or import them into the country, Medvedev told a congress of deputies
from rural settlements on Saturday. "If the Americans like to eat GMO products,
let them eat it then. We don't need to do that; we have enough space and
opportunities to produce organic food," he said.
More subpoenas from Bridgegate committee likely; committee
hasn't ruled out calling Christie 16
Apr 2014 Assemblyman John Wisniewski, the co-chair of the legislative panel
investigating the George Washington Bridge scandal, said the committee will
likely begin calling witnesses to testify as early as next month and hasn't
ruled out calling the governor, Chris Christie (R). Wisniewski would not say
whom the committee plans to call, but said the unanswered questions - and who
holds the answers - are pretty obvious. "There are a lot of possibilities," he
said. "With all of the unexplained occurrences, the documents themselves just
can't resolve the questions that lay out there."
Americans increasingly prefer Democrats on healthcare:
poll 15 Apr 2014 Americans
increasingly think Democrats have a better plan for healthcare than Republicans,
according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted after the White House announced that
more people than expected had signed up for the "Obamacare" health plan. Nearly
one-third of respondents in the online survey released on Tuesday said they
prefer Democrats' plan, policy or approach to healthcare, compared to just 18
percent for Republicans. This marks both an uptick in support for Democrats and
a slide for Republicans since a similar poll in February.
