Earlier this week, Speaker of the House Paul Ryan was asked a simple question at a New York Times event. It was: "What's the minimum wage in Wisconsin right now?"
His response: "Seven (pause) what is it (pause) seven and (pause)." Then someone from the crowd mercifully gave him the answer, which is $7.25 -- the lowest possible minimum wage under federal law.
Now, to be fair, Paul Ryan probably doesn't care what the minimum wage is. He is busy trying to shepherd through a tax cut for millionaires and billionaires in this country. But the truth is, working people -- including veterans after they serve -- deserve a representative who knows the answer to that question and is fighting to raise it.
Can Randy Bryce win? There have been some polls recently that show this is a real race. And in a wave election, anything is possible. But the one thing we know is that his only chance is if we all step up.
All our best,
