Fear Mongering, American Racism and much more: Daily Kos

The pathetic decline in America's Public Education perpetuates a level of ignorance that's breathtaking, reinforced by the Koch-Funded Tea Baggers, defined by the Jack Asses elected to public office.  [Apologies to the furry Jack Asses!]

Far too many can identify the players, statistics and recent scores of their favorite HIGHLY PROFITABLE TAXPAYER SUBSIDIZED NFL TEAM, somehow confusing expensive and brutal entertainment with important issues. [Head Injuries anyone?]

Ever heard of reading a book?
Ever heard of informing yourself about the history of the Middle East, the Sykes-Picot Agreement?
Ever heard of informing yourself about the transmission of EBOLA?

IGNORANCE endorses the success of Fear Mongering, Terrorism Mongering, War Mongering.

SIMPLY DISGRACEFUL! Daily Kos: ....New Mexico has the highest rate of child hunger in the country....

Kudos to Marvin Callahan!

Let's remember that REPUBLICANS slashed funding for food stamps, SNAP, even while supporting bombing other nations.

Why should Children, Americans, Senior Citizens, Veterans, Active Duty Military, the Poor, the Disabled go hungry while the War Machine and the Dirty Energy Koch Brothers continue to profit?

MAKE YOUR VOTE COUNT ON NOVEMBER 4TH!

No AMERICAN should go to bed hungry!

An elementary school teacher in Albuquerque, New Mexico, named Marvin Callahan saw an injustice and decided to do something about it. He noticed a number of his students were coming to class hungry on a regular basis.
When he started the job 21 years ago, he said he had no idea how many families were struggling to feed their children or keep a roof over their heads. New Mexico has the highest rate of child hunger in the country, with nearly a third of children going to bed hungry, although the problem is widespread enough that three-quarters of the country’s teachers say students routinely show up to school hungry.
Armed with a purpose and compassion, Callahan called upon other members of his community for help. They made a list of the most underprivileged of his pupils, and began sending 37 of them home each Friday with backpacks stuffed with food. Every Friday, each child takes home two breakfasts, two lunches and two dinners -- all nutritional, all tasty, and all easily put together.
As Carolyn Gregoire of the Huffington Post reports, “Retired teachers come in on Thursdays to fill up the backpacks with food items like breakfast bars, oatmeal, macaroni and cheese, beefaroni and sliced turkey — things that the kids can easily put together themselves.”
He began the program two years ago out of his own pocket, although it now has donations from members of the community and local organizations.

Officer Ben Hall and Alexis DeLorenzo
Officer Hall Pays It Forward

EMMETT TOWNSHIP, Michigan (WXMI) — Emmett Township Public Safety Officer Ben Hall has gained a lot of attention after a traffic stop last Friday. While responding to a call of a child riding in a vehicle unsecured in a car seat, he met young mom Alexis DeLorenzo and her 5-year-old daughter.

“When I spoke to [DeLorenzo] she was very forthcoming and knew that the child should be in a booster seat,” Officer Hall told FOX 17 News. “She admitted that she was wrong and that she had recently fallen on hard times.”

MSNBC reports that the woman's car had been repossessed that day, with the car seat inside, and she could not afford a replacement.

Instead of ticketing DeLorenzo, Officer Hall told the mom to meet him at a nearby Walmart so he could buy a booster seat for her daughter.
