"The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office made an arrest in the investigation of voter registration fraud that began on the afternoon of Oct 15, when law enforcement received a citizen complaint of voter registration application forms being found in a dumpster behind a business in the City of Harrisonburg.

Colin Small, 31, Phoenixville, Pa was a Voter Registration Supervisor employed by Pinpoint, an independent private organization contracted by the Republican Party of Virginia, for purposes of general voter registration.
Small is charged with destruction of voter registration application, disclosure of voter registration application and obstruction of justice.
These charges are based on lengthy consultation with and assistance from the Rockingham County Commonwealth Attorney’s Office regarding the investigation.
Police say there is no indication that this activity was widespread in our jurisdiction. They say it appears to be very limited in nature but there is the possibility that additional charges may be filed in the future if it is deemed appropriate.
There are no other details that the sheriff's office can release at this time, as this is still an active and ongoing criminal investigation.
Anyone who may have a question regarding their own voter registration status is encouraged to contact the County Registrar’s office or the Sheriff’s Office.

UPDATE: Sources close to the Rockingham County Sheriff's Office are telling me that Strategic Allied Consulting is involved in this. This is the same group that was in the national news two weeks ago for their "registration" drive in Florida that had forms with made up voters.
Even more interesting. Strategic Allied Consulting shares a Virginia headquarters with two other notables.
#1- American Crossroads- the superpac founded by Karl Rove and Ed Gillespie
#2- The office of Virginia State Senator Jill Holtzman Vogel.
Oh Karl...how unsurprising to find your name connected to this. I'm gonna go out on a limb right now and say that Virginia's wingnut Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli will do absolutely nothing about this kind of blatant crime, but he sure was at the forefront of making one of the more stringent voter ID laws in the nation.
