Trump to Seek $54 Billion Increase in Military Spending | 27 Feb 2017 | President Trump put both political parties on notice Monday that he intends to slash spending on many of the federal government's most politically sensitive programs - relating to education, the environment, science and poverty - to protect the economic security of retirees and to shift billions more to the armed forces. The proposal to increase military spending by 54 billion and cut nonmilitary programs by the same amount was unveiled by White House officials as they prepared the president's plans for next year's federal budget. Aides to the president said final decisions about Medicare and Social Security would not be made until later in the year, when he announces his full budget. But Sean Spicer, his spokesman, cited Mr. Trump's campaign commitments about protecting those programs and vowed that "he’s going to keep his word to the American people."

Trump's Budget Won't Touch 'Entitlement' Programs, Mnuchin Says | 26 Feb 2017 | Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said President Donald Trump's upcoming budget won’t touch entitlement earned programs such as Social Security or Medicare, and will instead focus on ways to produce long-term economic growth by slashing taxes. "We are not touching those now," Mnuchin said of entitlements in an interview taped Friday and broadcast Sunday on Fox News Channel. "So don't expect to see that as part of this budget, OK. We are very focused on other aspects and that's what's very important to us." Mnuchin said that the administration thinks tax cuts and regulatory relief will lead to a sharp increase in economic growth of 3 percent or higher.

Trump to Speak on Obamacare Repeal, Tax Cuts in First Speech to Joint Session of Congress | 28 Feb 2017 | President Donald Trump will address a joint session of Congress for the first time on Tuesday night, and he will give details on many of his proposals. The president says he will talk about his budget, tax cuts and the replacement of Obamacare during his first address before a joint session of Congress. The White House said Trump will also propose a 54 billion boost in defense spending by cutting c-sh for domestic programs and foreign aid, while improving efficiency, CBS2 reported.

US troops 'in combat' in Mosul, some have been wounded - Pentagon | 23 Feb 201 | While nominally operating as military advisors to the Iraqi forces, the US servicemen taking part in the assault on Mosul have been involved in front-line fighting and an undisclosed number have suffered battle injuries, according to military officials. US soldiers "have come under fire at different times, they have returned fire at different times in and around Mosul," said Air Force Colonel John Dorrian, the Baghdad-based spokesperson for Operation Inherent Resolve, the US-led coalition fighting against the Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL [but still McCain's I-CIA-SIS]).

Iraq: US Forces Trying to Evacuate ISIL Commanders From Tal Afar | 23 Feb 2017 | Commander of Asa'eb al-Haq Movement affiliated with Iraqi popular forces of Hashd al-Shaabi said that the US forces have been trying hard to evacuate ISIL commanders from the besieged city of Tal Afar West of Mosul. After photos surfaced in the media displaying US forces assisting ISIL terrorists, Javad al-Talaybawi said that the Americans are planning to take ISIL commanders away from Tal Afar that is under the Iraqi forces' siege. In the meantime, member of Iraqi Parliament's Security and Defense Commission Iskandar Watut called for a probe into photos and footages displaying US planes airdropping aid packages over ISIL-held regions. Watut further added that we have witnessed several times that US planes dropped packages of food stuff, arms and other necessary items over ISIL-held regions, and called on Iraq's air defense to watch out the US-led coalition planes. Eyewitnesses disclosed on Wednesday that the US military planes helped the ISIL terrorists in Tal Afar region West of Mosul.

British men jailed on terrorism charges after trying to leave UK | 25 Feb 2017 | Two British men who were caught trying to leave the UK via a southern port have been sentenced to more than seven years in prison after pleading guilty to terrorism offences. Mohammed Mayow, 23, from Hayes, Middlesex, and Mohanned Jasim, 21, from Southall, west London, were arrested at Dover eastern docks by police as they tried to leave the UK in November 2015. On Saturday, the south-east counter terrorism unit (Sectu) said in a statement that both men had been sentenced after pleading guilty to terrorism offences at the Old Bailey in London.

Spicer checks WH staffers' phones for leaks, vows more searches coming | 26 Feb 2017 | As the Trump administration hunts for the source of a series of politically embarrassing leaks that have plagued the young administration, dozens of White House staffers have had their phones searched in what is being termed "recess" compared to what may be planned, two top administration officials told Fox News. One official told Fox that White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer called nearly two dozen staffers into his office and demanded the staffers' cell phones in order to check for evidence of leaks. Spicer warned that the initial search would be "recess" compared to what awaits staffers in round two of the investigation, if the leaker -- or leakers -- aren't discovered.

Ross, a 79 investor, is set to become an influential voice in Trump's economic team after helping shape the president's opposition to multilateral free trade [sic] deals such as the now-scrapped Trans-Pacific Partnership.

Why the MSM Is Ignoring Trump's Sex Trafficking Busts | 25 Feb 2017 | Since President Donald Trump has been sworn in on Jan. 20, authorities have arrested an unprecedented number of sexual predators involved in child sex trafficking rings in the United States. This should be one of the biggest stories in the national news. Instead, the mainstream media has barely, if at all, covered any of these mass pedophile arrests. This begs the question - why?...As the MSM has ignored these historical arrests, they have zeroed in on casting conservative icon Milo Yiannopoulos as a monster. They claim he supports pedophilia based on comments he made in a video years ago. The reality is Milo was a victim of child sex abuse, and although he did joke about his abuse in an interview, he in no way promotes pedophilia. The opposite is true, and he addressed this controversy head on in a press conference. Not only is it normal for sex abuse victims to make light of their abuse as a coping mechanism, Milo has personally taken down and exposed pedophiles in his columns over the years. However, the mainstream media and the left ignored this information and demonized Milo. The irony of all this is that the left and MSM have been the biggest proponents of pedophilia.

Connecticut governor to cops: Don't follow Trump immigration orders | 22 Feb 2017 | Connecticut's Democratic governor is telling state and local law enforcement they do not have to comply with federal requests to detain residents who are in the country illegally, a day after the Trump administration detailed plans that could lead to millions of deportations. In a memo to state law enforcement and school district officials Wednesday, Gov. Dannel Malloy (D) said Connecticut officials should not detain anyone solely on the basis of their immigration status. Federal immigration detainer requests do not constitute orders or warrants, Malloy's memo says. Law enforcement officials should not give federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers access to individuals in state or local jails, Malloy's office added.

NYPD official tells Trump that 'nobody' will get deported for jumping turnstile | 24 Feb 2017 | A top New York Police Department official said Friday that jumping a subway turnstile--a minor offense--will not get you deported if you are an illegal immigrant. "Even if you're a recidivist and jumped a turnstile for the fourth or tenth time, and we arrest you for the misdemeanor crime, that's a misdemeanor -- it’s not a qualifying" Larry Byrne, the deputy commissioner for legal affairs, told reporters, according to Politico. "Nobody is getting deported for a minor offense." Homeland Security unveils sweeping plan to deport undocumented immigrants | 22 Feb 2017 | The Department of Homeland Security issued a sweeping set of orders Tuesday that implement President Trump's plan to increase immigration enforcement, placing the vast majority of the nation's 11 million undocumented immigrants at risk of deportation. The memos instruct all agents -- including Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) -- to identify, capture and quickly deport every undocumented immigrant they encounter. The memos require undocumented immigrants caught entering the country to be placed in detention until their cases are resolved, increase the ability of local police to help in immigration enforcement, call for the hiring of 10,000 more immigration agents and allow planning to begin on an expansion of the border wall between the United States and Mexico.

College Faculty's New Focus: Don't Offend | 27 Feb 2017 | In recent years, hundreds of schools have created bias-response teams that field thousands of complaints from students from across political spectrum who believe they have been slighted or slurred over race, gender, sexual orientation or political views. It’s among 53 tips on Penn State's “Strategies for Inclusive Classrooms: Workshop Activity," which was recently posted as an online resource for campus educators in response to "reports from students that they experience implicit biases, stereotype threat, and micro and macro aggressions in our classrooms," the university’s website states.

University of Washington, Tacoma: Expecting Americans to use proper grammar 'perpetuates racism' --'While overt racism is usually easily identified, more elusive are microaggressions...' | 22 Feb 2017 | The Writing Center at the University of Washington, Tacoma, is telling students that expecting Americans to use proper grammar perpetuates racism. A press release put out by UW Tacoma's Writing Center argues that "there is no inherent 'standard' of English," and that pressure to conform to proper American grammar standards perpetuate systems of racism. "Linguistic and writing research has shown clearly for many decades that there is no inherent 'standard' of English," claims the writing center's statement. "Language is constantly changing. These two facts make it very difficult to justify placing people in hierarchies or restricting opportunities and privileges because of the way people communicate in particular versions of English." Richard Spencer, alt-right leader, booted from CPAC | 23 Feb 2017 | Richard Spencer, a leader in the ethno-nationalist "alt-right" movement, was booted from the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) on Thursday. In a short video posted online, Mr. Spencer said he was "expelled" from the event and had been "politely asked to leave." He had earlier held forth with reporters inside the event.

Trump administration poised to change transgender student bathroom guidelines | 21 Feb 2017 | The Trump administration plans to roll back protections for transgender students, reversing federal guidance that required the nation’s public schools to allow children to use the bathrooms and locker rooms that matched their gender identities. In a letter to the nation’s schools, administration officials plan to say they are withdrawing guidance issued by the Obama administration that found that denying transgender students the right to use the bathroom of their choice violates federal prohibitions against sex discrimination, according to a draft of the letter obtained by The Washington Post.

More than 200 San Jose residents evacuated in floods | 22 Feb 2017 | San Jose firefighters rescued more than 200 residents by boat in flood waters in the Rocksprings neighborhood at Senter and Phelan. New evacuations were ordered for the entire area along Coyote Creek north of Interstate 280 and South of 237 at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday evening. They expanded the mandatory evacuation order to nearly all residents East of Coyote Creek and West of Highway 101, except for the Bonita neighborhood.

It's International Polar Bear Day! | 27 Feb 2017 | Feb. 27 marks International Polar Bear Day, an annual event meant to raise awareness of polar bears and their conservation status.
