When Rep. Tom Calter addressed a gathering in the Middleboro Public Library and subsequently the Middleboro Board of Selectmen, he suggested that it should be the responsibility of casino proponents to gather the facts and hire the experts to do accurate projections of the costs of impacts on the Town and surrounding communities.

To date, no such discussion or direction has taken place.

A review of the State of Connecticut, Board of Education statistics indicates rankings, demographic information, under-performing CT school systems. ConnCAN

It would seem worthy of the critics to invest their time in substantive research that should have been initiated last year.

Suggestions for the need to discuss the impacts are met with cries of Elitism, or worse, Racism in efforts to deny consideration and deflect the inquiries.

At this late date, there remain too many unresolved questions casino supporters have failed to address. What will the projected impacts be on the Middleboro School System? How many additional students will attend school in Middleboro? Where will the casino employees live? CT experience seems to indicate that low wage workers live within walking distance. Where are the supporters' statistics that prove otherwise? And numerous other questions that revolve around sound statistical analysis.

Incidentally, those critics missed my quote of my friend's mis-speak when he meant his friend, Clark in CT. Because of Clark's renown, surely should have immediately identified his prominence. Had those critics done their research, they would have clearly recognized Clark's home town.

Is this a fairy tale? The supporters don't want to present facts or look at what Foxwoods did to Connecticut.
If they presented facts and said you were wrong about all of the towns and schools around Foxwoods, their witch hunts might be justified, but they have no facts.
Some believe them and that's the pity.
Sometimes your gut just tells you stuff is wrong and others look for answers. My gut said on day one this was wrong. Calter was right. Prove the numbers work because I dont see it.

To an extent, I agree with jubilee, but found it disappointing that Gladys gave him an audience he doesn't deserve. It's her right. But he's a spoiled brat so the moniker bratbird is fitting of him, as well as his bird.
Temper tantrum, I'd say. Needs to get his personal life in order instead of taking out his childish demands on others.
