In a special Lincoln Lecture, Nicky Gavron, who has served for most of the last eight years as deputy mayor of London , will discuss the city’s efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, increase energy efficiency, and prepare for a post-carbon future. The London climate action plan is a model worldwide, seeking to reduce emissions by as much as 60 percent by 2025, without compromising quality of life and improving London ’s business competitiveness.

Speaker:
Felicia Nicolette “Nicky” Gavron was deputy mayor under London Mayor Ken Livingstone, who was in office from 2000 to 2008. A member of the Labor Party, she served as a city councilor beginning in 1986 and then in the London Assembly from 2000-2004. She is a member of the Metropolitan Police Authority and has been a leader in environment and planning policy, overseeing the “green” London Plan. She was a key figure in the establishment of the London Climate Change Agency and the C40 – a worldwide climate change action group consisting of the world’s largest cities.
