Cape Wind has been delayed, challenged and fought by the wealthy NIMBY crowd that includes Senator Kennedy and some wealthy Dirty Energy interests.
.The following about sums it up:
.
Meanwhile here we sit with a privileged and powerful few fussing about the view. After eight exhausting years of numerous public hearings, tens of thousands of pages of research and substantiation, thorough reviews by 17 federal, state and local agencies, overcoming eight frivolous law suits, and expenditures approaching $30 million, we anxiously await a permit decision from the federal government for the Cape Wind project.
.
The most egregious insult is ---
.
...the Cape Cod Commission is using YOUR tax dollars to fight this project that 74% of Cape and Islands residents and 86% of Massachusetts residents support.
.
The ... Town of Barnstable [is] planning on filing similar appeals.
.
The use of tax dollars to protect Senator Kennedy's view and Koch's investments?
.Instead of stampeding toward gambling oblivion in the false hope of job creation:
.
Just think of the manufacturing and employment opportunities here if we can open the American market for offshore wind. Vestas alone has over 20 thousand employees. That's about half the size of the restructured General Motors. Those Danish wind turbines could and should be built here. LINK
.
In the false hopes of slot machines and casinos, 75% of the jobs created will be low wage, unskilled jobs that offer no future for advancement and no transferable skills.
.
Why are unions so anxious to promote dead end jobs? Is the membership asking or merely blindly following? Why are unions so averse to oppose the wealthy NIMBYs and speak out for Cape Wind?
.
Some folks sure have their priorities confused!
.
On Sunday April 27, 2003, the Tank Barge Bouchard No. 120 struck rocks south of Westport, MA, when it passed on the wrong side of a navigational marker at the entrance of Buzzards Bay. The resulting 12-foot gash on the bottom of the hull released an estimated 98,000 Number 6 fuel oil in Buzzards Bay. The vessel was on route to deliver oil at the Mirant electricity generation facility located on the Cape Cod Canal.
