Kitty was kill listed on 6/17 and was spared. Kitty does need to find placement ASAP! Her time is running out. She is a sweet cat that lost her home because her family was moving to a place that allowed no pets. Kitty is waiting at the shelter for a new family to come and rescue her. DO NOT call the shelter and say you are adopting unless you truly intend on physically going to the shelter to adopt the cat. It ties up phones lines and is a waste of the staff's time to explain the adoption procedure over the phone for someone who is purposely not going to show up. They need every free second of their time to answer calls, assist actual adopters, process intakes, and care for the animals. More importantly, they will note the cats’s file that an adopter is en route which will prevent an actual adopter from saving the cat. This is considered a "fake adoption" hold and that is how animals fall through the cracks and end up being killed.
For more information on a particular cat, email adoption@nycacc.org but ONLY if serious about adopting, and ONLY if you are able to GO TO the shelter in-person. Please do not email for status updates... the only thing you will accomplish is spamming their in boxes and causing REAL adopter emails to go un-noticed. Contact the NYC ACC at (212) 788-4000 for further automated instructions.

The Valencia County Animal Shelter (NM74) is located at 1209 Highway 314 in Los Lunas, New Mexico (just south of Albuquerque). The phone number is 505-866-2479. The Shelter is open Tuesday thru Saturday, 9AM to 5PM. Email contact is pattymugan@aol.com
If you are interested in helping to give this or any other Valencia Shelter pet some more time to find a home, you can join the Shelter's new Foster program and take care of a pet on a temporary basis (most foster commitments are 30 days or less). Foster is able to choose the animals they want to bring in to their home. Please email Marie at BridgesToHome@gmail.com for more info.
