After almost a week at zero output, the Plymouth nuclear station is back online
Entergy: NStar power loss forced shutdown last Monday night
Pilgrim Nuclear Power Plant is back online following a repaired leak. NRC photo.
The Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station has been reconnected to the New England grid, according to a statement by Entergy spokesperson Carol Wightman. The Entergy-owned Plymouth power station was shutdown last Monday at 9:21 p.m. after one of the two 345-kV lines that provides power to the plant from offsite was lost.
The other 345-kV line was removed from service by NStar the previous week for planned maintenance, Wightman said last Monday.
The offsite power was restored to the plant by NStar last week and Pilgrim was brought back online at 4:05 a.m. today.
When the offsite power was lost, the plant was powered by its emergency diesel generators.
Maintenance work was done at the plant during the shutdown, Wightman said.
