Edward Snowden accuses U.S. of sending communications of private
Palestinian-American citizens to Israel --Claims messages could make
relatives of Americans in Israel and Palestine into targets --Memorandum
between the NSA and its Israeli counterpart shows transfers may have occurred
since 2009 19 Sept 2014 Former U.S. intelligence analyst Edward Snowden
has accused the U.S. National Security Agency of routinely passing private,
unedited communications of Americans to Israel, an expert on the intelligence
agency said Wednesday. James Bamford, writing in the New York Times, said
Snowden told him the intercepts included communications of Arab- and
Palestinian-Americans whose relatives in Israel and the Palestinian territories
could become targets based on the information. 'It's one of the biggest abuses we've
seen,' Bamford quoted Snowden as saying.

Russian fighter jets intercepted by US near
Alaska 20 Sept 2014 Two Russian fighters
entered a US "air defence identification zone" this week and were intercepted by
US F-22 jets near Alaska, military officers have said. The incursion happened on
Wednesday and was followed by a second incident on Thursday involving two
Russian long-range bombers, which flew into Canada's air defence identification
zone, officers said. Two Canadian F/A-18 fighter jets intercepted the bombers,
which flew out of the area without incident, according to Major Jamie Humphries,
a spokesman for the North American Aerospace Defence Command.

"Bears," at around 1:30 a.m. PT as they flew a course in "the western

of War' video was posted online today and bears hallmarks of previous Islamic
State tapes including Hollywood[Langley]-style effects and bloodthirsty,
call-to-arms language. The clip bears the stamp of the al-Hayat Media Centre,

US Congress approves plan to train and arm Syrian
'rebels' 19 Sept 2014 The US Congress has
passed US President Barack Obama's plan to train and arm 'moderate Syrian
rebels' to battle Islamic State jihadists, a key plank of his strategy to smash
the militants. The Senate voted 78 to 22 to authorise the first step in Mr
Obama's move to degrade and destroy the Islamic State group which has conquered
swathes of territory in Iraq and Syria. It came as US warplanes hit an Islamic
State group training camp in Iraq in their first strike not directly supporting
Iraqi or Kurdish forces, and France announced it will join the air war, although
its action will be limited to Iraq.
Gee, looky here!
U.S. funds 'biggest beheaders' of all - the Syrian

Syrian rebels linked to al-Qaeda behead man using
small knife in front of children 2 Feb 2014 'Rebels' in Syria with
ties to al-Qaeda [al-CIAduh] have beheaded a man publically in front of
children, an amateur video posted on the Internet showed. The footage shows
armed men in black standing outdoors in a circle around a man who is lying on
the grass. One of the militants leans over the victim and appears to cut off his
head with a small knife, cheered on by the others. Once the head is detached,
the militant holds it up and places it on the man's back before it rolls off and
settles on the ground about a meter (3 ft) away from his body.

Terrorism suspects in
detention: police won't say how many are being held 19 Sept 2014 The Australian federal police are refusing to confirm
how many people are still being detained without charge as a result of
counter-terrorism raids in NSW on Thursday. In a press conference on Friday the
acting AFP commissioner, Andrew Colvin, refused to answer questions about how many people were
being detained without charge, when the number of people
detained would be made public, and whether they had been brought before a
magistrate for their detention to be continued. The AFP, NSW police and the
Australian Security and Intelligence Organisation took part in dawn raids in
Sydney on Thursday, in what was touted as Australia’s largest counter-terrorism
operation ever.
Australian terrorism suspects held under powers introduced by Howard
government 19 Sept 2014 Counter-terrorism
authorities have used for the first time extraordinary, Howard-era powers to
hold without charge three suspects arrested in Thursday's terror raids. In a
statement late on Friday, Australian Federal Police revealed they had used
preventative detention orders to hold the three men without charge for about 36
hours before releasing them on Friday afternoon. The prevention orders were
granted by the Supreme Court of NSW on Wednesday before the raids.
Terrorism raids: beheading attack could have taken place within days,
Tony Abbott says 19 Sept 2014 A terrorist
attack involving the random killing of a member of the public could have
happened "within days" and all that is required to carry out an attack in
Australia is a determined individual, a knife, an iPhone and a victim, the prime
minister said. Tony Abbott also said there had been "chatter" among extremists
about targeting Parliament House, as security inside and outside the building
was handed over to the Australian federal police. His comments came the day
after the most extensive counter-terrorism raids in Australia’s history resulted
in two people being charged.
AFP to take over Parliament House Security after 'chatter' about
possible terrorist attack; investigation into thwarted 'beheading plot'
continues 19 Sept 2014 Security at
Parliament House has been ramped up after "chatter" among terrorist support
networks about a possible attack on government, Prime Minister Tony Abbott says.
Yesterday more than 800 police launched
synchronised raids on houses and vehicles across
Sydney and Brisbane - the biggest counter-terrorism raids in Australia's
history...Further raids were conducted in Sydney overnight, Australian Federal
Police (AFP) acting commissioner Andrew Colvin said, adding that "we can expect
to see more activity in relation to this investigation in the coming days, weeks
and months".
Russia joins online 'conspiracy' theorists in claiming Scottish
referendum was rigged --Igor
Borisov, one of four accredited Russian observers in Edinburgh, said counting
process fell short of 'accepted international principles' 19 Sept 2014
Speaking to state news agency RIA Novosti, he claimed that the way the count was
conducted varied greatly from 'generally accepted international principles'.
When asked for specific examples of the violations he witnessed, Mr Borisov
claimed that the size of the room made it 'impossible' to keep an eye on all the
counters...He added that the boxes were kept in the room without any protection.
Borisov said the US state department, the UK and other western countries loudly
criticised the Kremlin about Russia's supposed democratic deficiencies. But in
this instance, he said, London and Edinburgh had not 'fully met' the
requirements of a proper referendum.
Police investigating alleged
electoral fraud at polling stations in Glasgow after people find their votes had
already been cast --Police investigating 10 cases of
suspected electoral fraud at referendum --Allegations relate to possible cases
of impersonation of voters 19 Sept 2014 Police
in Glasgow are investigating ten cases of suspected electoral fraud. Voters
turned up at polling stations to find that people had already voted using their
names. Glasgow City Council confirmed that there had been 10 instances where
people had gone to vote and found their names had already been crossed off the
list. Spokesman Colin Edgar said: 'We've
had a number of suggestions across the course of the day that people have turned
up at the polling station to vote and they appear to have voted
already.'
Scotland Rejects Independence From Britain in a Close
Vote 18 Sept 2014 Voters in Scotland
rejected independence from Britain in a referendum that had threatened to break
up the 307-year union between them, according to projections by the BBC and Sky
News early Friday. Before dawn after a night of counting that showed a steady
trend in favor of maintaining the union, Nicola Sturgeon, the deputy head of the
pro-independence Scottish National Party, effectively conceded defeat for the
"yes" campaign that had pressed for secession. "Like thousands of others across
the country I've put my heart and soul into this campaign and there is a real
sense of disappointment that we've fallen narrowly short of securing a yes
vote," Ms. Sturgeon told BBC television.
Attempted White House intruder arrested, 24 hours after man gets
inside presidential doors --Suspect
identified as Kevin Carr from Shamong, N.J. 20 Sept 2014 An
unidentified man was arrested Saturday outside the White House after driving up
to the gates and refused to leave, less than 24 hours after another man jumped
the fence and got inside the presidential residence before being arrested,
according to the Secret Service. The second incident occurred at about 3 p.m.
when the man approached one of the White House gates on foot, said agency
spokesman Ed Donovan said. He later showed up at another gate in a car and
pulled into the vehicle screening area. When the man refused to leave, he was
placed under arrest and charged with unlawful entry.
2nd security incident at White House in 2

incident at the White House in as many days, an individual failed to stop at the
entrance to the White House complex while driving his vehicle, Secret Service

said. The incident happened at the entrance at 15th and E Streets, where the
driver did not stop when the Secret Service ordered him to do so, Leary
said.
White House intruder was
armed with a knife 20 Sept 2014 The Secret
Service has increased security around the White House after an intruder scaled a
fence and made it inside the doors of the executive mansion armed with a knife,
the Secret Service said on Saturday. The incident, which occurred on Friday,
represented one of the most significant breaches since Obama became president
and raised questions about the security procedures at the White House, a heavily
guarded complex filled with Secret Service officers and snipers. A review of the
Secret Service's response began last night, the agency said, with a physical
assessment of the area and interviews with involved personnel.
White House intruder was homeless Army vet with PTSD, family
says 20 Sept 2014 The intruder who scaled a
White House fence and made it through the front doors was an Army veteran
diagnosed with combat trauma, but authorities said Saturday the case was still
under investigation. A family member in California said Omar J. Gonzalez, 42, of
Copperas Cove, Texas, near Ft. Hood, has been homeless and living alone in the
wild and in campgrounds with his two pet dogs for the last two years..."He's
been depressed for quite some time," the relative said.
Man arrested after jumping White House fence and getting inside,
Secret Service says 20 Sept 2014 A man
jumped over the fence of the White House on Friday and made it through the front
door before officers managed to apprehend him, just minutes after President
Obama had departed, the Secret Service said. The intruder sprinted toward the
White House after leaping over the fence and ignored commands from officers to
stop, Secret Service spokesman Ed Donovan said. He was ultimately apprehended
just inside the North Portico doors, the grand, columned entrance that looks out
over Pennsylvania Ave.
Parts of the White House evacuated after intruder jumped the fence
and reached the portico --President
Obama had left the White House only minutes before --Reports say man charged towards north portico and was
tackled 19 Sept 2014 Parts of the White House have been
evacuated after an intruder allegedly jumped the fence and charged towards the
building. Reports on social media told how a man clambered over the protective
perimeter, prompting officers to run towards the building and call for people to
be evacuated. President Obama was not in the White House at the time, but had
left a short time before. Footage of the would-be assailant shows a short-haired
white male in jeans and a black t-shirt charging towards the
president.
License plate scanner
networks capture millions of vehicles' movements across the
US 19 Sept 2014 A
rapidly expanding digital network that uses cameras mounted to traffic signals
and police cruisers captures the movements of millions of vehicles across the
U.S., regardless of whether the drivers are being investigated by law
enforcement. The license plate scanning
systems have multiplied across
the U.S. over the last decade, funded largely by Homeland Security grants, and judges
recently have upheld authorities' rights to keep details from hundreds of
millions of scans a secret from the public.

mandatory for every employee. "Employment is contingent on you
receiving your flu shot," Dr. Skip Nolan said. Nolan is the Director of the
Division of Infectious Diseases at UMMC.
